Multiple sources have tweeted that both the seahawks and MB say this is all made up bull shit.

The original report came from a dallas cowboy beat writer who was just making stuff up.

Yeah... as soon as I saw where the report originated and saw that the Seahawks hadn't heard from Bennett or his agent about a request for a trade, it was a lot easier to write it off as just more BS about the Seahawks.

Never took it seriously once the team openly rejected it out of hand.

we now live in the information age yet all we get now is misinformation.

Glad to hear this story doesn't have legs (and neither should that Dallas beat writer).

Coming out all over now that his people have actually reached out looking for more money and there is conflicting things over whether or not they have asked for a trade or not. The stuff about asking for money seems more or less widely accepted now.

Is there any reason why the Seahawks should give him a new contract?

No... NO reason at all... He signed a long term deal w/ us last year... It would be very disappointing if he's holding us hostage after he signed that and after RW is presumably doing what he can to ensure other's get signed...

If he's just asking that's fine. If he starts holding out on OTA's and it goes well into fall then it's very much not OK.

The Hawks for sure can't give him more and I'd be shocked if they did. He signed a contract of his own free will and nothing has changed since he signed it.

I used to request a raise every six months. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The Seahawks are in position where they don't need to do anything because they're holding all the cards. And Bennett knows this. You don't request a pay increase one year in to a four year deal. I think it's posturing on his part for now. If he has a career year this upcoming year, then he goes in to next season with more leverage and a FO that knows where he stands.

It doesn't hurt to ask for a raise, but the team doesn't have to give him one. As long as he doesn't dog it on the field (he doesn't seem to be the type that would do so) or bring it up in the press often enough to get himself traded (or cut), I don't think this is much of a story. I didn't think it was much of a story to begin with. Let's try not to make it into one.

He's one year into a deal he just signed.... He needs to buck up and play ...You don't try and negotiate for more money 1 year into your new contract... Love Bennett but common...

As long as he's there for the first OTA this is a non story. But if he's not...

I think it's not going to be a issue for 2015. Never hurts to ask for a raise when your performing. Doesn't mean you expect it to happen, sometimes your just laying the groundwork like Lynch did. I negotiate my own raises and a lot of strategy goes into it. Including asking for a raise, even when you expect it to be turned down. Got to let the man know your giving him his money worth plus.:D
