Just came across on my sports ticker, 4 years $34 million. I can deal with these numbers and pumped that we were able to get him back!

I got an e-mail from 710sports.com and it said Clayton is reporting 4 years, $32 million with a $16 million guarantee. Either way, it's nice to have Bennett back on board.

Well if it's 32m that's the 8m/yr that was reported already. If it's 34m then they ended up matching the reported 8.5m/yr that Chicago was offering and as we already discussed they shouldn't have needed to considering Illinois has a state income tax and Washington doesn't so your money goes a lot farther here (provided you make a lot of your major purchases out of state). Also not sure if Illinois has a 'jock tax', but we know Washington doesn't.

710sports.com just posted a picture on Facebook of Bennett actually signing the contract. It's a done deal.

Great news. IMO, Bennett was the #1 priority. Those are fair #'s.

ESPN is reporting 4 years and 28.5 million. First year 10 million, 2nd year 5 million, 3rd year 6 million, and last year 7.5 million. 16 million guaranteed.

The $32-34 million is probably the top end of the contract. Most contracts have a lot of hidden language in them with incentives like work outs and then meeting certain numbers on the field. So that extra $4-6 million could be just that. Agents want the bigger number reported while owners focus more on the smaller number. Honestly we never quite understand how good or bad a contract really is because of all the hidden language.

Nice news! I was thinking he was a goner. Price tag wasn't to bad IMO (although what that price tag is exactly, I'm not sure, Hearing 28.5 from ESPN).

And look at the way it's structured to perfection assist with our projected cap going forward.

Schneidered!!!!! Boom!!!!

Quote from Bennett today: "I love the fans here and that was part of wanting to get another deal with the Seahawks. It's really exciting to be back with these guys and try to win another superbowl."

Icing on the cake. Bears and reported that one other team offered him much more money and he decided to stay. Even though he said this "Isn't Costco, and I'm not going to be taking some hometown discount", still looks like he turned down more money to stay here.

If the NBCsports numbers are true, it actually works out to be 7.125 per year of the length of the contract, not the 32 total number initially reported. If so, he did take less to stay here for sure.

Vikings DE Everson Griffen signed a 5 year deal for 8.5 per year.

It's being mentioned that factors that also could of impacted him taking slight less money and made the Seahawks the most attractive offer. In 2013, Bennett played in only 57% of the snaps and Seahawks will maintain that workload. So his compensation is rightsized for his projected playing time. He won't be expected to play every down as the Bears and other teams might of demanded.

Schneidered!!!!
