LoL typical wagon fans, just a few weeks ago noodle arm revere's head was on the chopping block, everyone here wanted him out, why is he playing again? He has no arm! He's the worst CF in the mlb, etc, etc! Stay Hot! You know who you are!

Very dumb. Stay after school for a month since you did no homework! That's all of you - you know who you are!) Revere ranks very high in MLB stats (300 PAs - about 34 players) that count for a leadoff batter. Low in power stats and RBIs but follows weak 7-9 hitters. Overall, considering he plays for a basement team, the stats show he's reasonably excellent, even with a noodle arm which figures in only a overall small % of critical plays over the season.

HITS: 4th, 142; 2nd NL
AVG: 3rd, .311; 2nd NL
SBs: 2nd 37; 2nd NL
RUNS: 16th, 54; 4th NL
OBP: 16th, .328; 9th NL
WAR: 22nd/34, 1.3; 12th NL
RBI: 33rd, 14
K%: 8.5%, 33rd/34

The article makes some good points. I stated that he was emerging. I think that he would have to hit around .327 to improve his obp percentage to average.. The reason that he does not walk much can be attributed to pitchers having no fear of his bat. They throw him more strikes. Would I prefer to have a center fielder who can field and throw better? Yes! A lead off hitter should at least have an obp of .350
to make an impact. IMO.

Finally some Revere love. He batted 300 last year before he gotten hurt. And he's batting 300 this year. No he doesn't have power or an strong arm, but he's a solid singles hitter.

The article doesn't really shed any light on Revere's stats and his actual worth as a singles hitter. So I looked at another singles hitter, the Dodgers 2nd baseman Dee Gordon for comparison.

____________G____PA___AB__AVG___RUNS__HITS__RBI__BB__2b___3b__HR __SB___OBP__WAR
Dee Gordon_123___530__491__.289____70___142___27___30__18___11__2 ___30__.334__3.1
Ben Revere_117___477__460__.315____56___145___14___10__10____6__1 ___37__.331__1.3

Both are comparable with Gordon having 20 more runs, 14 more xbase hits, 13 more RBI, resulting in a higher WAR. But Gordon has nearly 60 more PAs and the Dodgers rank 12th in runs and rbi vs the Phil's 25th ranking. So not too shabby for Revere, and certainly not an empty BA.
