Things I have really liked on this offense so far this pre-season (and this game) in general
Dalton has looked sharp and confident in the pocket
AJ in the slot, lined up left, lined up right, and being moved around in general. LOOOONG overdue
Mixon in the slot, motion out from backfield
Eiffert split out wide, and well on the field in general and healthy
Ross stutter step and explosion for 57 yard score, and Dalton hitting him nearly in stride (tad under thrown, but wasn't horrible).
Passing blocking in general has been pretty solid.
Bad - Running game. All of it. This team will have to pass to open up the running game. As long as Eifert is healthy, and this OL excels in pass-blocking, it is the way it is going to have to be.
The starting defense has looked good. Really, really hope we can find a way to also look into getting Preston Brown long-term along with Atkins and Dunlap.
Well, it may have only been one series, but Cedric held his own on every single play on that drive. Blocked very well in pass-pro and even did a nice chip, release, and downfield block to help spring a run that got positive yardage.
However, run blocking is still a major issue on this team. This OL simply does not have the ability to move people off the point of attack. They are lucky to hold the line. This team is going to have to be very successful at traps and pulls to spring our RB's, because running straight ahead is going to lead to a failure each time.
Also, Glenn on the sidelines, and seems to be fine. Probably ruled "out" due to no need to put him back in for an exhibition. Positive sign that he is still in uniform and on the sideline.
Our pass coverage has been excellent downfield. Several of the sacks were of the 4-5-6 second variety, where he simply had nowhere to go with the ball.
