Please tell me this isn't a real question.

Yeah, that's all that happened. :rolleyes2:

No, to save some of his trade value and prevent the situation from getting worse...you know, like it is right now. He also should have forced Doc to walk back what he said.

And the Sixers step on their own dicks every time he does.

I thought Cleveland fans were bad. You Philly fans are far worse.
What don't you get? Simmons mental health isn't worth saving.

Pretty easy to prove Ben’s side actually.

Philly fans hate him and want him gone. That creates a high level of stress and anxiety for Ben because he is toilet paper soft.

Mental health issues.
they didn't want him gone until he started acting like a little bitch at the end of the offseason.

after the playoffs we said "that can't happen again, be better Ben"

there was no hate, just a lot of frustration. He still contributed, but with the hype he was getting from guys like Lebron, he needs to bring more.

All you non-Sixers fans are missing Doc's role in all of this. Doc was hated by the fans all year for not holding Ben accountable. Not making him shoot. For publicly defending him all year and being apart of the Babying Ben culture that has plagued the organization for years.

Doc's eyes were finally opened during the playoff series and he couldn't ignore reality any longer. Doc has been around this league a long time and has personally coached hundreds of players. He's seen the full career-archs of thousands of players. Doc learned that ben simmons would always be a small man, he'd always be an empty shell, he won't develop heart.

Doc's had thousands of experiences to show him who Ben was going to grow up to be and he learned he's not worth any of it. He's not worth coaching, he's not worth befriending, or providing advice. He's not worth the time of day. He's a soulless, heartless, childish, headache that any franchise would be better off without.

And it stings for Doc, because he believed in ben simmons until he got a closer look and now he knows to never believe in Ben again.

Actually, it's you Sixers fans who are missing Doc's role in this.

Doc never should have said what he said. He should have just given a canned response saying something like "Yes, we have some work to do, but we can win with Ben". Then, in the off-season, Morey trades him.

Doc, having been a player, been a coach and having "had thousands of experiences" knows better than to say what he said publicly.

I just don’t think a single basketball person was swayed in the least by what he said. The damage was done by his play on the court.

That's what you are missing. Doc isn't going to lie for the sake of the franchise in that after playoffs statement. It's already too late for more lying and more babying ben. He's finally, and regretfully, telling the truth for the sake of his own reputation and legacy. Ben is a talented failure and Doc saw it.

Doc didn't kill ben's trade value after the playoffs, Ben did during the playoffs.

I agree

why sugarcoat it? so your sensitive star player doesn't get his feelings hurt?

no way...Simmons needs to take that criticism and turn it into some motivation

His trade value took an initial hit but nothing that couldn't have been worked around given his other skills and the fact that most organizations think they can "get through" to a player.

But when a respected coach like Doc, basically says that he's given up on the guy and the organization gives tacit approval by not defending him...that cratered his trade value.

Basically, Doc's statement told the rest of the league that Simmons is uncoachable and has no heart. While that may well be true...you can't say it when you're trying to move a guy.

I just think all of that was well known, all the way back to college. The fact that his game had not improved was all people needed to see.

And you're both wrong. It's not about coddling Ben, it's about keeping his trade value as high as possible to prevent what is happening now. The fact that the Sixers and their fans can't grasp this is why it's looking like your going to get through Embiids prime years without so much as a finals trip...let alone, a title.

but we had no intention of trading him...they had signed him to a max deal

instead Ben had a hissy fit and decided to make it much worse.

Then why cant the Sixers even get as much as the initial offer that they turned down? In fact, all things considered, they may well find themselves unable to sign decent FA's because of how they have handled this.

I think if that were true we would be seeing all kinds of players speak up, they are not. They know Simmons.

This.

I don't get why sixers fans don't get this.

You killed your leverage with other teams just by saying this. When you know the staff doesn't believe in him....what do you think is going to happen?

lol

Doc said what he said, the organization doesn't defend Ben...and you think they had no intention of trading him? They signed him to a max deal, because they really had no other choice. Especially if they wanted to eventually move him.

I think his mental issues had already started.

At the very least to sports psychiatrist level.
