lol @you thinking the Sixers "won the trade". And talk about some revisionist history. Sixers fans were all saying they were going to get a big haul for Simmons and ended up giving up the kind of deal they thought they were getting back...to get 33 year old James Harden who looks like he's declining...and, at least on paper, improved a direct competitor in the process.

I'm sure they're just playing 6D chess though. lol
I don't think anyone was expecting a big haul. They were asking a big price but knew they'd likely have to give up more than just Simmons to get anything done to unload the malcontent.

No doubt. Maxey is trending toward being a projection to being that guy. But he’s 21 and he’s not there now. As we’ve discussed many times in this thread, with Joel Embiid tomorrow is never promised. I’m glad my squad is going for it now. Here’s where they sit into the future. Harden takes his player option for 22-23 kicking the can on the Sixers having to make a long term commitment. 23-24 Harris 39 million comes off the books. The Sixers have optionality going forward because they kept that piece of Maxey. They seemingly have multiple cracks at this thing as long as Embiid stays a viable top 5 player in the league. In 24-25 the Sixers may be the Embiid Maxey show with some of that open cap available to get a third star to play with them. I get the claim the Sixers helped the Nets get better. I’ve said similar things myself. But I think it’s clear that the Sixers have positioned themselves to have a real shot at competing now and in the future. Selfishly, this season was heading towards an expectant early playoff exit again with the only intrigue being whether or not Embiid closes on an MVP but now they’ve given me something worthy of a sports fan’s investment and that’s really all you can ask for.
I don't think either side got fleeced.

Both sides got fleeced by their own players honestly. This was a mistake ridden trade of malcontents.

I agree, honestly it’s a failure for the entire league

Nah. Is there any more appropriate trade than two teams trading their headaches to each other?

This is better in terms of competitive balance than dumping said player to team that only cares to amass future picks IMO.

He'll make more 3s in one game than Simmons has his entire career.

How are the strip clubs in Philly by the way?

They are not up to Harden's caliber I think. Honestly not sure, haven't lived in the city in 20 years and only go back once a year or so to visit family. But I don't think it is like Atlanta, Tampa or Houston on the strip club circuit.

Edit: I am realizing I haven't lived there in 30 years. Getting old!

On a negative note it sounds like Harden won't play the two games Philly has this week before the All-Star break, and will not be suiting up until afterward. He is clearly practicing but they are taking it easy on him and his tight hammy.

I am a little disappointed as I had read reports suggesting he might play this week, but honestly having him hold out a week and rehab the hammy/get in better shape is probably smart.

Who will play first : Simmons or Harden?????

Probably Simmons. Harden is going to want to map out the quickest routes from the arena to the strip clubs. Plus he has to visit each so he can rank them, decide which ones he wants to frequent and pick out his favorite table at each one.

Important shit like that takes time.

Probably easier to just build one at the arena and the practice facility.....

Maybe just a conspiracy theory but I think this gives him cover to stay away from the All Star weekend and those circles. He was getting clowned when KD and LeBron were picking teams. He might just be passing on the shit people are gonna be talking. Or he will still go out there and be around it and I’m just talking out my ass.
