I was just going to post Shaq's commentary. He nailed it. Shaq got hacked and put on the line, he knows how humiliating this can be, but he didn't whine like a bitch and go home.

If he’s such a little pussy you should be glad to just Be rid of him instead of asking for laughable overpayments
Ummm it’s not my team. Make no mistake about it though, he is a pussy.

And when "I'll get healthy on company time" and "Pay me!" Shaq says you're being stupid and childish, he knows of what he speaks.

LOL, part of Shaq's rant was about how Simmons is going to ruin the big contracts for everyone else, and that he and those that came before him helped him get that bag. He's not wrong on either count, but yes, these ex players have a way of glossing over their own past behavior. Shaq in general was a pretty dependable player though. I lived in LA during much of his Lakers glory days, and watched a lot of his games.

I disagree

Many of those max players are no underpaid that it won’t matter. Plus many teams will have no way to replace those bubble max guys anyway.

Curious to see if that would lead to more trades though

I think you may be missing Shaq's point, which is that future contracts will surely have more language stipulating exceptions to guaranteed money based on Ben Simmons' behavior. He is not talking about current max players. Of course, those players' contracts are what they are. But when the next CBA comes up, this is going to be a problem for the players.

Good luck trying to argue mental health shouldn’t be exempt

I’m curious how an arbitrator would rule on this and what level of access he has.

Does he get to see private Psych notes?

I don't know, but my guess is that teams will demand that players share mental health evals, etc. It is going to be messy.

Simmons is already doing that.

Everyone knows it’s not a real mental health issue, Shaq doesn’t say what he said if it was.

BS.

Shaq is from a world when mental health issues didn’t exist.

You are too.

Shaq believes it is BS. A lot of people do.

That doesn’t mean you know anything though.

It’s is BS, anyone with any intelligence whatsoever knows it. If it wasn’t we would see one person stick up for him, besides you. I havent even seen his mom speaking up for him lol.

Ben Simmons is basically saying his mental health issue is the Philadelphia 76ers. He has told people that he can't play for Philly, but that he is in good physical shape and that if he were traded he would be back on the court in a couple weeks. Let that sink in for a minute.

What is to stop any player in the future from saying, "Sorry I can't play for the Cavs anymore, my mental health issues are flaring up. I need to be traded to Lebron's team asap then I will be good" ????

Actually,

Anybody with any intelligence doesn’t assume they know details like these about people they have never even met.

Because based on averages, there are people you know pretty well who are going through, or have been through mental health issues and you don’t even know it.

Most people tend not to talk about these things publicly.
