Value is seen in what the player can do. The things you’re talking about are a take or don’t take decision. And we don’t know for sure but based on reports there is a willingness among a number of teams to add Ben Simmons.

Of course teams are wanting him

The question is the price obviously.

And like tlance has mentioned the fact Morey is seemingly targetting Brooklyn is just plan insane. Dumb on multiple levels.

It’s questionable to put all those eggs in that basket. I agree. Maybe I’m projecting too much but in my eyes Morey’s summer scenario entails more than just Harden wanting to move on to a different situation. Where I am now, I’d rather set sights on making Halliburton and Barnes happen. It’s not the HR he hoped for but they are two guys that fit which also will allow them to continue to develop Maxey.

This article is all why he should not be the top pick 5 years ago

Based on what Ben showed us in the NBA as opposed to college, he earned his keep imo
And the rest of that draft is meh anyway. Brandon Ingram? Nice player but if the Sixers took him it would have been something similar to the Lakers where he would have failed to meet expectations early on and they likely would have moved him.

I agree that the Kings deal would be a solid add

And you knew this.

Like this of us outside Philly have been telling you all year.

The organization needs to know the player. Some guys can handle public criticism, some can’t.

That was never the way to go at Ben Simmons.

Yeah, I am not even sure what your point is, you are the resident Ben Simmons apologist on these forums. But if your point is that they never should have drafted/re-signed/coddled Ben Simmons, I agree!

I love how he says he is upset Doc never came to see him, even though he acknowledges he ignored all messages from Doc. What a diva!

Yesterday I posted that if there was any situation that would be a Come to Jesus for Ben Simmons and a signal that he needs to change his attitude and add to his game it would be this very public humbling situation. But these recent comments that reveal an expectation that he be chased like a teenager in love says he’s doubling down on his attitude. Not a great sign.

The Lakers didn't move him because he failed to meet expectations, he was improving every year. They moved him to get a top 5 player in the league.

Ingram has become a pretty good but streak player. Kinda like a Tobias Harris type player. It's possible that he could develop further but his aversion to cheeseburgers suggests he likely always be something along what he is now.

I question anyone who has an aversion to cheeseburgers

And get what instead?
Boston fans want to trade Beal for Jalen Brown. They think that getting an older version of the same player to pair with Tatum will be the thing that works.

@tlance

At first I’m scratching my head and saying what’s Morey thinking. Now it makes sense.
Beal has a player option for next season he can exercise to get out of 36 million. Once that happens, Beal has the leverage. In a sign and trade he determines where he goes. When you assess where Beal would want to land, plus what the Wizards can get back in a deal, there isn’t much out there that makes more sense than something like Simmons and Green to the Wizards for Beal resigning for $40 million.

Yeah. Not sure that is the move they want to make or that they have offered anything for him.

To be clear, I'm not saying that Simmons plus picks is the best offer out there. I don't really know. But the Sixers aren't going to give up the farm if no one else is even bidding.

It’s funny watching you guys totally lowball everyone and then complain about teams overpaying (but not massively) for Simmons

I get what people say about the Sixers negotiating position with the Simmons asset, but doesn’t that apply more so with Beal? Beal can walk in a few months. Simmons is under contract for 3 more seasons and if the Sixers challenge in court that Simmons never completed this year on his contract maybe 4 more years depending upon how that argument goes. The Wizards window on the Beal asset is quickly closing and others know that as well. The Simmons dynamic is truly one of a kind. It smells a lot like the Brow but that was a situation where the Pels didn’t have 3-4 years of control on his existing deal the way the Sixers do with Simmons.
