Bellichek got bailed out of a MAJOR fiasco. Seattle gets the ball down to the one with a minute left and Bellichek lets the clock run down to 30 seconds with 2 time outs left. Now Carrol goes brain dead on the very next play but why doesnt Bellicheck call TO with a minute left. Assuming Seattle scores dont you want the ball in Bradys hand with a minute left down 3. I was friggin stunned he lets the clock run out. He would have got more heat then what Carrols gonna get.

Brilliant call. The Hawks burned those early time outs, forcing them to pass, forcing them to panic and call a quick pass play. They fell right into Bill's trap. Hawks was probably wishing the Pats had called a timeout.

I don't think the Pats could have mounted a drive without time-outs being held in reserve, had one been needed. There was play after play in what turned out to be the game-winning drive (and to some extent earlier in the quarter) when a receiver ALMOST got out of bounds to stop the clock, but the Seahawks were fast enough to keep them in.

The Patriots pretty much needed a stop to win. Using one time out wouldn't have done much to increase their odds of winning. Why not use the time outs to give you the best chance of getting a stop and winning the game?

pete completey bailed bellichek out. u call timeouts with a minute on the clock in that situation. the seahawks taking their sweet ass time after first down was stupid. yes u don't want to give brady the ball back but u also have to put yourself in the best position to take the lead. carrol admitted having 1 timeout made it a "wasted play on 2nd". I still don't buy it. u run the ftball when it is the strength of your team and the weakness of the team u r playing (32 in the nfl against the run in short ydage situation). complete clusterfuck from 2 great coaches

Ok so BB does not call a TO which in turn makes PC make a bold call versus the smart one yet you claim BB's choice was wrong. MMMMMk

Nah, BB just lost awareness of what he was doing.

Did you partake in the 20 or so threads that stated that BB knows everything about the rules and never misses anything which is why the deflated balls was a farce?

So if you did now you are claiming he just lost it and stopped thinking? :suds:

When the only other explanation is he was trying to fake out Pete Carrol, the simple explanation that he messed up makes the most sense.

It's ok to admit he messed up, you just won the game in spite of his error.

It was kind of amazing the Pats didn't try to stop the clock, talk about believing in your players till the last second, wow, hat off to BB.

BB spoke in post game about it and specifically addressed it and said it was his choice.

I was surprised that NE didn't take a timeout, but I think you're probably right that he wanted to make Seattle throw the ball.

Well, Carroll's call lost the game so I can't go that far...but it was very dumb(in theory) to sit there with 47 seconds on the clock and not call a timeout. They pretty much said, we have a better chance at STOPPING BEASTMODE ON THE 1, instead of making sure Tom Brady had about 50 seconds on the clock

Yep true theoretically you have to call TO there
I'm actually feeling better about Philbin as that's exactly what he'd do after we ran out of time to come back. Sense the sarcasm? Both coaches lost their minds there...
