I'm not a well heeled audiophile (above the norm maybe, but still modest limit on what I will spend) but I do recognize and appreciate quality music reproduction...$200-$300 is not a LOT of money for a good set of headphones...imo, it depends on the primary use. A great pair of headphones, sound good, but equally as important, they can also be worn for long periods of time in comfort.

Beats are good headphones, they do market pretty aggressively and that of course factors into the price....the sound is geared towards music with a lot of bass, rock, hip hop, etc,...if you heard the same recording on a neutral, high quality speaker, you would immediately gather that the Beats are not really accurate. However, they are pretty clear...Sol is much the same, but they do have a model that attempts to provide a more accurate sound....if you like Beats...save the money and buy the Sol.

Music that's a little more complex, such as Jazz Fusion, or Classical or even vocalist, Beats or Sol imo are not the best options.

Bose imo tries to get closer to the recording sound engineer's intended sound, they do a pretty good job of it, but don't have the low end to be more versatile...imo they are a bit overpriced too...you could pay less and get a pair of mid range Sennheisers.

I have a pair of Sony's ($15) I wear doing yard work etc...they're perfect for that, but there is a pretty big difference compared to most headphones that cost $200+.
