He clearly wasn't happy at the end of the year. I thought that they could make him a serviceable guard but oh well. At least they got something for him.

YIKES! That... sucks.

I thought he was a great RT prospect for the Badgers. In my opinion, the Buccs either got a huge steal or his career is shot because of injurie(s).

Bucs trade 2014 6th-rounder for Gabe Carimi

Buccaneers acquired G/T Gabe Carimi from the Bears in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2014.

Bears GM Phil Emery is throwing in the towel on ex-GM Jerry Angelo's final first-round pick after two years of dismal performance. In 2012, Pro Football Focus graded Carimi 73rd among 80 qualifying offensive tackles, and 78th in pass protection. Carimi did handle himself much better in four appearances in right guard. The Bears were going to audition Carimi there full-time in training camp. Instead, he's off to Tampa Bay to compete for a roster spot. The Bucs have one of the better lines in football, so Carimi would do well to earn a sixth-man role.

The Bucs/Falcons rivalry should be an especially fun one this year. Obviously, not just due to this pick-up, but I am looking forward to two good games from that match-up.

I really liked the pick for Chicago. Carimi had a ton of potential. I'm don't know much about his injury, but if he can make a full recovery this is another great move by the Bucs.
