You don't hear too much from Bonds these days. I saw him on TV a week or two ago at a Giants game. It's too bad he might never get into the hall of fame . He had the talent to be in without any help and he pissed it away because of greed and guys like McGwire and Sosa taking his spotlight away.

So many MVP awards and so many HR's. Not enough people talk about how many walks he had in his career.

Bonds did get cheated himself by not having anyone protecting him in the line up and maybe seeing only one good pitch a night to hit. People do forget that fact.

Freaking mind boggling.

His swing was lightning fast man.

Too bad he pissed away a possible HOF induction. He was a great player . Too bad he is tainted with the PED s#it.

I thought I had heard sometime ago that there was interest in having him be a part of the organization, like a "special assistant" along the lines of the role Will had. Any truth to that? I don't know if his personality is conducive to a teaching role, but he can't be any worse than whatever the hell Bam Bam is doing right now. I'm ready to give anything a try!

Bonds' fearsomeness was encapsulated in one simple event: when Buck Showalter walked him intentionally with the bases loaded.

But, that was during his juicing era. He was great and HOF worthy before the juice, but he was the perfect and never-before-seen hitting monster only with the help. And who here didn't enjoy watching him then? Who didn't drop everything they were doing at the park or at home to watch him bat?

It's a Greek tragedy...the fans are complicit some. We wanted the Sosa/McGwire show, and then the Bonds show, and we got it

The difference is that Bonds was a no doubt HOF player before the PED s#it and Sosa and McGwire were not. Bonds would be in right now if he did'nt juice. Sad s#it man.

It's on Bonds but he was a great player.

I said exactly the same thing, BoB

I just don't get all mad at the players because we the audience kind of made it happen

I never asked anyone ever to juice. Don't put that s#it on me. I coached some college players this year and if I found out someone was juicing I would kick their behind and sit them down for a long talk . There are still some of us who love a pure game . It's up to coaches and parents to talk to these kids to set them on the right path. Sometimes society and greed get them and it's too late.

There is some integrity left in the world. At least I hope there is....God help us.

SYM, in the educational world, and in a perfect world, you are right. It is black and white.

But in the real world, and in the pros, it isn't.

What could you possibly tell Melky that would make him believe he should not have juiced? If he did not, he would be Frenchy, at best (ie struggling to catch on with someone at league min). However, since he DID juice, he now has 16M in his pocket.

Hell, if someone laid out 16M for me, and all I had to do was juice properly and have fun playing a game I love, well, I am OK with big bills, thank you very much.

Well, I for one do not prefer to take a seat after getting kicked in the arse, but that's me.

Marshmallows are delicious.

You know I had some money earlier in my life and never worried that much about buying stuff and living comfortably. I have had a rough time this past decade or so and have lost all my savings and you can't buy me for 16 mill. I may be poor but my soul is secure. No one owns me and the dollar does'nt own me and I am very cool with that. If I do something that I am proud of and can do it being legit making 16 mill that is cool also. Making a difference in peoples lives is much more important to me especially as I grow older and wiser. Great memories are much more important to me than having great wealth and having to miss out on family gatherings and such. I do wish that I could afford a few beers at the yard sometimes. S#it beer prices are out of control man. Come on Larry give us a break.

Congratulations , Barry Lamar Bonds! You are still the best, steroids or no steroids. Let the haters steam in their own holier than thou hypocritical dump. They still can't explain why if steroids are what is so touted to be, the be-all and end all of home run hitting, how come Alex Sanchez and majority of those named in the Mitchell Report could not buy home runs even if their lives depended on it? They pick on those who were already good and opine that without steroids they would not be where they are. How twisted is that? Steroids are either elixir or not.

I think that you are doing a disservice to Matt Williams, Jeff Kent, and Ellis Burks. And to a lesser extent Glenallen Hill and JT Snow ("the early" JT).

You are right Marco but the last 3-5 years of Bonds career guys like Ray Durham were hitting behind Bonds which was not fair to Bonds. All you have to do is count the rubber chickens on the wall man. Freaking rubber chickens on a wall at AT&T Park...what a joke man.

The Giants even found a way to sell freaking rubber chickens to the fans which if you think about it was a slap in the face to it's own organization for not bringing in a player to protect Bonds . Instead it was rubber chickens for intentional walks and there were a ton of them.

You made an absolute statement originally, not one limited to his last few years. I will agree that the last 2-3 years of Bonds' career, he (generally) had a bunch of junk hitting behind him.

However, Durham started his Giants career batting leadoff, not behind Bonds. It was a couple of years later that they moved him down in the order. But having a guy with 26 HRs and an OPS of .898 hitting behind you (Durham's 2006, batting mostly in the 5th spot right behind Bonds) doesn't seem to be that much of an impediment.

If he were TrueNiners, he would have said that the fact that someone thinks he is clean is PROOF that he is clean.

His inability to ever grasp the difference between proof and evidence and hearsay was staggering.

He also hasn't said XXXX-jacked yet.

Even though he, himself, is logicjacked.
