Notre Dame... NYY... NO Saints... the Heat... You wouldnt understand man. Some of us have grown up with these teams and support them no matter what. you'll probably have a different team in every sport in the next 5 years.

Nope. If you was on the cbs boards for 10 years as I was....Those always been my teams.

Disagree, played PSU recently in home and home. Saban likes the one off, allows for diversity of teams they play and bigger paydays for both teams in good recruiting ares and national exposure, cant see whats wrong with that, if you can let me know.

your right penn st. however isn't it also true that's the only non conference road game in the last 10 years? not saying its a bad thing..i can see a situation Oregon AD calls for a game...a home and home.....Alabama says WHOA not so fast but if you want to bring your team to dallas or Atlanta...where we can have half of our own fans then we will do it. might not be the case...but with so very few road games in non conference play...appears so to the outsider looking in

Then you would agree you never grew up in a college football town community that everyone taught you to pull for the tigers or the tide or the Irish every weekend?

this team is horrible...how they got to move up to FBS ill never know...pretty sure they have played 3 FCS teams and lost them all 1 by a blow out...basically Alabama has 2 fcs teams on schedule...this team doesn't need to be in FBS

Yeah they're bad, but a win against an FBS team still counts as one.

Appearances are deceiving, if you look at the makeup of Sabans recruits, you will see he pulls of many states. His one off games ae what he uses to showcase the team in recruiting beds he wants to recruit from. What does he have to gain by playing in Cali or Oregon when he could play in Dallas or Atlanta, make a boatload of money for both teams and get national exposure and recruits. Its part of his process he talks about and it works apparently, 3 of 4 speaks volumes.

Then you cant possibly understand what the appeal is to FANS of a school who grew up with it.
Everyone who grows up in the state of Alabama must choose to be a fan of one of two college football teams, and neither of those includes Troy or UNA.

Outsiders cannot understand.

And those who move to the state often have to choose:

New guy moves to Alabama.

Dude asks him, "Which college football team do you pull for?"

Guy replies, "Notre Dame."

Dude says, "That ain't what I asked you! Alabama or Auburn? And make sure you're careful with your answer."

In that state you are anointed at birth it seems. Its not quite like that, but many fans are in families that have huge fanbases of that team and they grow up with it. :10:

As Bo has said, it would be hard for you to understand why we we go to these game. Also, Please refrain from calling people idiots or w/e for doing something that you don't know much about.

I still do call those fans at the game idiots because tickets to the Arkansas & UT games are not that expensive on stubhub. You can get tickets for under $100 against much better teams.

In Louisiana, you pull for the Tigers or you don't get to talk about football at social functions.

Looks like Sims had a few words with Saban at the half and has calmed down. He was forcing it earlier, looks more relaxed now. Very worried about next year at QB, not sure who is going to take Mc's place and its a big question mark right now. Not confident that Sims is the man.
