Twins Take Season Opener From O's, 2-1

http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr82/wcs71401/SportsHoopla%20Baseball/twins1.jpg

BALTIMORE, MD - Well the experimental season for the Orioles didn't go as planned as they are defeated by the Minnesota Twins 2-1 behind a complete game by starter Scott Diamond.

"Diamond was virtually unhittable" Orioles manager Buck Showalter said "all we were able to get were a few weak singles until I had Adam Jones come in. He at least hit a double" he added.

This was the first game of the season for a team full of created players from a sports message board.

"It was real exciting out there today" Orioles starter Upstate NY said "I was thrilled to get the nod for the opener and thought I pitched pretty good overall with the exceptions of a couple of mistakes in location that lead to the runs" he added.

Upstate NY hasn't pitched since little league so it was kind of amazing how he was able to spot his pitches and last almost seven innings.

As for the rest of the Orioles they have some work to do but they flashed some leather out there mainly from the second base position held by Bama Bear.

"It is nothing like I have ever done" Bear said "I just knew that in order for this to work I was going to go out there and play it like a video game" he said.

Game two of the season is up next and Rob VT is getting the ball. Should be a good one.

O's Blank Twins Behind Rob VT

Mark OU

BALTIMORE, MD - The Orioles took the second game of the three game series from the Minnesota Twins 2-0 behind a solid pitching performance by Rob VT and on the strength of Mark OU's first homer of his career.

"It was a 0-2 slider from Baker and I just closed my eyes and swung with all of my might. I had no idea that it was a homer because when I opened my eyes after contact I had no idea where the ball was. I acted on the crowd reaction and saw the umpire make the signal and that was when I knew" OU said "What a tremendous feeling it is to lift my team" he added.

Once again the Orioles got another solid outing by one of the created pitchers. Although giving up alot of hits Rob VT was able to pitch well enough to pick up the win and was aided by a solid bullpen outing to secure it.

"I was hitting locations and making pitches. Isn't that what cliches pitchers are supposed to say?" VT said "It was alot of fun and look forward to taking the hill in the next couple of days" he added.

The rubber game is up next with Edisto Tiger taking the bump looking to keep the momentum going for the O's.

Herky's Walk-Off Blast Lifts O's Past Twins

http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr82/wcs71401/SportsHoopla%20Baseball/twins3-1.jpg

BALTIMORE, MD - The Orioles behind the big bat of Herky, walked off with the series against the Twins beating them 8-6 in front of another sold out crowd at Camden Yards.

Rookie Herky took a 0-2 pitch from Glen Perkins in the bottom of the ninth down by one run with two runners on over the right field wall to secure the win for the Baltimore Orioles who improve to 2-1 on the young season.

"I just wanted the opportunity" Herky said "Once we were able to get baserunners I knew I had the chance to win the game for us. I was looking to just make good contact to try and at least tie the game. What happened was so much more special" he added.

The Orioles had to make up ground after a lackluster start by Edisto Tiger. Tiger was only able to barely give the O's five innings but did allow five runs to the Twins, three of which came from a Justin Morneau blast.

"I just couldn't get command of my pitches" Edisto Tiger said "I am thrilled that the batters picked it up for me and the bullpen shut it down. I never want to make them have to do it" he said.

Orioles skipper Buck Showalter commended his team on staying the course and not giving up. The lead wasn't something they couldn't come back from they just needed to believe in themselves.

An AL East showdown is next as the New York Yankees are set to face the Orioles in an early season series. Should be a dandy.
