I really like this special on ESPN a lot. The bad boys were in the middle of when basketball was awesome. The Lakers and the Celtics went to wars and we all grew up watching that stuff a lot of us. Then the Pistons come in and just physically abuse you, while playing so tough. But I have to admit I love the last 15 minutes of it and when the Pistons walked off the court in the 91 Eastern conference finals. Their owner was hugging them on the way to the tunnel on the way back to the locker room.

The fouls they had on Bird alone would get a player kicked out of league today. And I liked it. It's pretty good bball today, but I just have to say it was awesome back then.

They all but killed MJ. Isiah had to stay up till 2am to figure out getting Jordan to the middle on the dribble and then bruising him every chance they got.

That foul on Bird by Lambier was crazy. I loved it when Bird threw the ball at him.

u had to be tough back then

If todays players had to be that tough someone would pull a shank.

I liked it except for how they walked off the court when chicago finally beat them. Very punk-bitch-ish of them

They reminded me of the Broadstreet Bullies (Philly Flyers of the 70s). Just a tough group that got into other players heads.

Robert Parish hit Laimbeer with an even better shot later in that series. The Pistons' trainers had to bring out smelling salts.

The 30 for 30 shows are on Netflix streaming also. The Bad Boys segment was really good. So was the Larry Bird/Magic Johnson one. The Lakers/Celtics playoff games got physical too.

That's awesome shit.

Boston fouled hard before the Pistons did. Detroit would just do it every other game.

LOL, there were a few of those weren't there?

 Those were some fun games. One of my closest friends at the time was a huge Celtics fan. There was a bar we used to go to for those games that was all Lakers fans except for a couple of tables of Celtics fans. There was some epic, good natured trash talk during those games.

Amazingly, there were never any fights despite the fact that it was only $2.00 for a 32oz. beer.

That was the GM, Jack McCloskey, giving out the hugs, not Mr. Davidson. But it was awesome to have a team so closely tied to management. They really were the end of an era. Never will be a basketball team that plays for the common good quite like them again.

ESPN did a decent job of telling their story. Decent, but they could have done better. Still was a damn good 30 for 30 and I've watched it a half dozen times.

Yep, that was a great rivalry and it saved the NBA. I watched all those series and they were great ones. The 30 for 30 show goes over all that and I actually remember that period. Prior to the Laker/Celtics rivalry, I remember playoff games being on tape delay, lol. That was really bad.

I watched at least a couple of the championship games in Magic's rookie season at 11:30pm at night. It sucked avoiding radio and t.v. all day so that I could pretend I was watching it live.

I pull out the Bulls Dynasty dvds every now and then. Watch the Bulls/Suns Finals, Portland was awesome. Miss those days.

Looking forward to a good Finals this year though. Should be interesting.
