You know what the best part about this might be? That no one in the media saw this coming at all, the great "insiders" and "gatekeepers" that they are.

So you're saying that Dreger will be a Calgary "insider" in a few short months?Dreger lost his best insider (cousin Dave) so he's essentially guessing now (lol)

Probably means that Babcock made up his mind very, very quickly. by all accounts, BUF was in the running til the last minute. DET and SJS were in it up until 24 hours out as well.
Maybe TOR put a big number on the table, and Babs overplayed it a wee bit. Maybe he asked the Wings and Sharks if they would match, and they said "thanks but no thanks", and left BUF as his only option. Then the little woman factor kicked in, and voila, he is King of Toronto (for a day).
I've heard that too, but I am not sure if Gardiner fits what they need. They need a steady shut down guy who can be a pain in the ass to play against. Lots of experience is a plus. Gariner is more mobile. Assuming Murray can go next year, they need physicality more.
If they go after someone like that it means that they know Murray is never going to make it past his injury woes.
Apparently, all this "Jackets scouting XXXXXX" is just looking around for a place to dump Rychel. Seems the Kurt Overhardt factor is already coming into play and the kid has a total of 5 NHL games.
OHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE
Can I interest you in a slightly used Chris Phillips, sir? Why yes, we do accept Rychels!!
I see there are a lot of pissed off Sabres fans on Twitter.
Can I assume these are the same ones who were crowing when Josh Gorges refused to come to Toronto and went to Buffalo?
I'm really surprised Babcock jumped ship from a good situation in Detroit for the Leafs job. Is Toronto that much better of a job, money aside, than Detroit? Toronto has a great coach in place now, but the players still have to perform on a nightly basis. I think Detroit will do well assuming they bring up Blashill( sorry if misspelled).
I just got in and have not read details, but what was the price for Babcock and his duties besides coaching?
