Patriots trade pick #21 for picks #29, #94 and #121. And according to all the trade value charts, they fleeced the Chiefs. They essentially got the equivalent of an extra 2nd round pick worth of value. You love to see it

Not a fan of the pick. The guy is most 24 years old. Almost every mock has him from 3rd to 5th round.(an occasional 2nd). Time will tell. But for right now... an A+ for the trade. D for the pick.

I'm with you on the trade.

But a lot of mocks I saw had him in the 70s/80s.

He has a lot of potential. Can play G/C which BB loves that versatility.

I think BB could've traded #29, got an early 2nd+, and still got Dean and Strange.

Let's hope McGrone and Perkins can be the real deal.

I guess I just don't understand trading away Mason for a 5th rounder just to waste a 1st round pick on his replacement. Who knows what Strange and the 5th might turn out. But I'd rather have Mason and LB Dean from Georgia.

I wouldn't mind trading back into the bottom of the 1st round and acquire a 3rd. Lots of depth this year. We only had 5 picks about a month ago. We have 8 now. More the merrier.
Looks like you nailed it

The review I read this morning stated he's a top notch run blocker lets hope he can pass block

The Mockers all had Strange between #73 and #110.

The Rams were "shocked" when BB took him. They had visited him 4 times and snuck him out to LA for a workout and McVay said he was their pick at #104. This is the kind of pick that the Patriots make where they get an All Pro on the OL.

Everyone expected either a LB, CB or Edge. Even a WR. Bill never does the expected.

Thank you Bill, for giving Mac more protection.

Second and Third Rounds today.

I was thinking trade out or OT, but OG is a need

You need to factor in the cap relieve as value too. I'm not saying this is all a wash, just that it factors into the analysis.

Patriots selected Chattanooga G/C Cole Strange with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

It's a left-field pick, as Strange (6’6/301) is a small-school pivot turning 24 years old in July. Not exactly the most projectable of prospects, though the Patriots announced him as a guard. A high school tight end and linebacker who recruiters couldn’t make sense of, Strange ended up in the FCS, where he transitioned to offensive line. An incredible athlete for his size – which he proved with a 9.95 relative athletic score – Strange toyed with sub-division defenders, beating them to the spot and walling them off with footwork, leverage, and technique. Explosive off the snap with light feet, he’s a treat to watch in space. Strange has a finesse profile but plays with attitude and brings surprising pop to the collision point. Smart, athletic, and pliable but lacking in bulk and upper-tier play strength. He reminds us of a more polished version of Colts 2020 fifth-rounder Danny Pinter.

We could not afford to resign Mason. Now we get possibly a better replacement with a bunch of cheap years ahead of him.
This pick will look huge next year when he is an all pro for pennies and Mason is looking at Thuney money.

Bingo! You didnt read up on him because the so-called experts were too busy rewriting each other's shit!
Such a simple statement but this is exactly the media world we live in. It's not the art of writing that matters, it's the science of getting attention.
