So Cleveland makes a surprising move and grabs a backup QB? Does this indicate they are "all set" at QB? They still have Kevin Hogan & Cody Kessler.

With the acquisition of both Taylor & Stanton it makes me feel like they are going to pass on a QB in the 1st Rd. Maybe Barkley & Chubb at #1 & #4? That would be the "Browns" thing to do lol. Continuously passing on franchise QBs.Give them credit for trying because 1-31 is not going to cut it...they had to make some roster moves and they have...I'm thoroughly confused as to what they may do at #1 but I think between 1 and 4 they will land one of these big name QBs....if they do pick a QB #1 I think it will be Darnold.
I think Taylor will go from starter to released...likely just this one season unless he's willing to backup the rookie turned starter.

This is the year the Browns double their win total. The AFCn is officially on notice.
Hart is a depth piece at most. So long as Jake Fisher's ticker is in working order that is. Hart is no better than Ogbuehi. Both have been benched numerous times. If Glenn & Fisher struggle to stay healthy then its going to be a musical-chairs type season for the Cincy O-line.I will add that the Bengals have also acquired Bobby Hart from the Giants (RT) and Chris Baker from the Bucs (DT). Both players were former starters that ran into some 'trouble' last season. In Baker's case, he was thought of as a better than average DT until going down to Tampa and being a cancer.
Again, high risk reward type of stuff.... This is always how the Bengals have operated so it shouldn't come as a surprise.
Only if you're counting the last 2 seasons cause 0*2=0. But 1*2 =2.This is the year the Browns double their win total. The AFCn is officially on notice.
no, they are taking a qbSo Cleveland makes a surprising move and grabs a backup QB? Does this indicate they are "all set" at QB? They still have Kevin Hogan & Cody Kessler.
If they are stacking up on QBs, I think it's safe to say they will not be taking a QB in the first round. I'd see them taking Barkley at #1. IDK if Chubb will be available at #4 from what I've seen. Giants might take Chubb at 2 and try to get Mason Rudolph in the 2nd round, unless they feel good about Davis Webb. I can't see the Browns spending all this money on T-Mobile and Stanton if they are just gonna pay a #1 pick at QB as well. I think Barkley is the #1 pick.
I have no clue where CLE is going, but trying to sort through this...I do think 1 or 4 goes on a QB.
The money is probably irrelevant in this rare case...they have it to spend, and they have to spend to the floor of the cap. Taylor is on a 1 yr $16 mil cap hit...cheap for a QB not on a rookie contract. Stanton's numbers are not out, but I would expect them to be around $3mil per on a 2 yr deal.
A top 5 rookie's salary will push the QB position cap number up around $26-27 mil tops...chump change for them. Hogan and Kessler are cheap, but probably going to be looking for new teams.
The money they have invested in the roster QBs will have zero bearing on the draft imo...
I think they draft QB at 4. They will either get Rosen, Darnold or Allen. I could also see the Giants not drafting a QB and going with Chubb from NC State or Nelson from Notre Dame. Jets at 3 will definitely get a QB so the Browns might have 2nd choice of who ever they want at QB.
If they draft a QB, the Browns would have 5 QBs on their roster. They might need them all too! lol

But its interesting seeing the overhaul on the Bengals O-line over the last couple offseasons. Whitworth & Zeitler leave in 2017, and now Bodine. Usually takes time for an O-line unit to gel so it may be a while before Cincy sees consistent returns on their investments. Having a new O-line coach (Pollack) should help.
I'm guessing they take a center with their top pick.... And I wouldn't be surprised to see another lineman in the top 3 rounds. I think they learned something last season - That is, if they are struggling at LT they should kick Clint Boiling out to tackle. They have a few prospects at guard but they refused to play them until the last few games. The line was actually servicable in this arrangement over the last four games. It was just too late.
It's a lot to ask for this unit to get where they need to be. But I think the biggest challenge is how stubborn the coaches have been to admit mistake (See Ogbuehi).

Starting to pare down on QBs.

I don't think that has any bearing on the draft...the way this is setup...they will either take Darnold or Barkley #1...If they are fine with Darnold, Rosen or Allen, they will take Barkley #1.
Wow....a 3rd round pick traded for a 7th round pick to be a backup. That's sad lol. I do think Kessler can get better but it wasn't gonna happen in Cleveland.
