there is a report on nhl.com says Arnott traded to the capitals for David Steckel

From what the caps fans have said he's one of the best faceoff men in the league 1.1 cap hit with 2 more years left I believe.Also said he's a great team guy.Looking forward to seeing him contribute.

I'm not very surprised.

Basically we traded a 2nd and a stalled prospect last summer and got a 2nd and an NHLer for him. Not a bad return at all.

Steckel averages about 9ESM/game and about 2SHM/game.

So he's a big center who wins tons of draws who can play on the PK a bit. Sounds good to me.

Especially considering Arnott's play of late. This team was on a roll and arnott was playing no part in that. To be fair.

yeah actually just saw the 2012 second round pick added to the deal.. at first i didn't like the deal i didn't know much about his steckel and his stats aren't anything really to rave about.. thought it was a 2nd line center for a 4th line center but i've heard good defensive things from the people who have watched Steckel and the added 2nd rounder makes me feel alot better about it.. good deal

Seems to me from what I've read steckel kind of reminds me of a younger madden or upgraded version of pelley.hated to see arnott go but am very happy with the return we got.

Yea I am happy with the deal. We get one of the best face off guys in the league at a very decent cap hit for 2 more years.

If needed can play on the 3rd line but I would rather see him anchor our 4th line with Clarkson and Pelley and throw the kid line out there giving them 3rd line minutes.

The pick is nice too. Was that added late? because when the trade first broke I could swear it was straight up

It's got its good and bad.As a long time devils fan its difficult to see Arnott and his big shot go.But washington give us a better return for arnott than buffalo gave up for boyes.It wasn't a disruptive trade and it addresses A problem that cost us the Tampa game.

Thats because the trade isn't very exciting. It will be more exciting when lou uses that 2nd draft pick.

Very happy with this deal. Arnott asked to be traded. I like Arnott, but you don't keep guys who aren't thrilled to be part of this run.
Steckel will fit in plus he is about a decade younger, excellent on faceoffs, 6'5", and only a million dollar cap hit.
I remember his name because he is why Crosby is out with a concussion.

I only was expecting a 3rd and they got a 2nd plus Steckel. Great deal.

I'm really impressed with how much we were able to get back in this trade, kudos Lou, I didn't want arnie to go but considering what I thought he'd be worth I think we got more than we could reasonably ask for in the 2nd round pick alone

The new guy is great on draws but even though he's listed as being 6-5, word is he plays like he's 5-6.
