Apparently Eric Chavez is retiring effective immediately.

Good call, Chavez. I wouldn't risk a hang nail playing out the rest of this season for this disaster.

Padres are loading up. Looks like there will be three elite teams in the division to deal with now. Oh well, at least the Rockies should still suck. Battle for the basement.

Hadn't seen the Diamondbacks play til last night at Buffalo Wild Wings but it looks like they are doing better than expected. Nick Martinez has looked good his first two starts, if they can score him some runs and avoid having to go to their bullpen early I imagine the Dbacks probably have some players who can hit from the left side, which the Rangers can't counter, because they don't have any left handed relief pitchers, and If Nick can go 7 innings, they might have a shot, though they are playing in the Dbacks backyard.

WOW. I thought you weren't speaking literally, so I looked and the Rangers really don't have a left-handed reliever. How do you operate a team and go into a season without one lefty in the pen? And I thought the D-backs front office had it's head up it's bum.

Any home town news on Tomas and Peralta's Day-To-Day status? I sure would want to keep Peralta in the line-up with 7 games up-coming. I can replace Tomas with Drury, so that isn't quite as important.

Tomas has a stiff neck, not serious. Peralta is feeling the effects of getting hit in the same spot on the arm by a pitch multiple times. Both players are not long term concerns.

The big screw job was that De La Rosa was to get 2 starts...no Bradley is throwing tonight. Trying to figure out the management decisions have me scratching my head.

Pete O'Brien discussed as possibly getting called up soon. He doesn't play SS, but if it results in Ahmed riding pine more...I'm all for it.

Next six against STL and PIT in their houses. Both have been playing well. I have no confidence something great comes out of this road trip.
