I read about it on ESPiN, but I just don't see that it would happen. At least I hope Oregeron doesn't join them, f'em. Ed did a great job and they still brought in Sarkisian.

I cannot see it happening.

Pat Haden will probably have to sit on his thumb and spin for quite sometime before Orgeron even returns his phone call.

Situations complicated because Sarks "key recruiter" was Dline coach Tosh Lupoi. USC was refusing to cover his 400k buyout from UW and now he's being investigated by the NCAA.

Orgeron is also known primarily for his "recruiting", but also proved he can coach at a high level. Sarks looking for a guy who will be able to recruit nationwide and coordinate it all. Ed's one of the best at that, but prob won't come back after what happend.

I say 50/50. USC always intended to keep him on staff if he didn't get the job and would certainly welcome him back if Sark can get him to return. Coach O is loved by everyone at USC and Haden all but begged him to stay. I think if he's offered an HC job, he takes it. After that, it depends on how good a recruiter Sark is.

Sarkisian and Orgeron just seem like second-tier type coaches.

Why did USC settle for such common rabble?

depends on if he can get a high ranking HC job. but also factor in how bitter he is about not getting USC job. not so sure he takes a job like western Kentucky or something.

Their first choices, Jack Del Rio, Kevin Sumlin, and Chris Petersen turned them down. Also USC is still dealing with the scholarship reductions. Whoever takes it is still going to be doing it with an arm tied behind their backs.

Almost entirely incorrect.

Sumlin was considered, but never even interviewed. Most at USC didn't want him because of concerns about defense and the possibility that his success is more about Manziel than Sumlin.

Jack Del Rio was the favorite and likely first choice. The health issues with John Fox changed that however.

Chris Petersen and Haden had a discussion and mutually decided that he wasn't the right fit for the program.

The sanctions are a non-issue at this point. There is one season left of them. Having two 10 win seasons during the sanctions shows what USC still gets as far as athletes and a new coach can only expect that to get better once the sanctions end. USC should be back to full strength no later than 2016 and barring something unforeseen, any new coach would be given at least 4-5 years to show what he can do.
