Surge was Coca-Cola's attempt at competing with Mountain Dew. The original testing name was "MDK" or "Mountain Dew Killer". It was discontinued after a few years & basically re-branded as Vault with a slightly different formula. Which was then discontinued again in 2011.

MT. DEW with REAL SUGAR is sooo much better than regular DEW though
