But you gotta register them sumbiches, and I ain't no member a no country club, so I don't have a registered handicap.

I play about twice a year and I've never broken 100...and I don't care if I ever do.

I started playing at 40, never had a lesson. I just like to be out on the course, it's beautiful and usually quiet.

I also like to tinker with club-making. I play with a set of 61 Hogan blades that i've refinished in my basement. Of course, the lofts are off by about two clubs compared to modern sets.

Get out. I haver a thing for Hogan blades. I played with a set of '84 PC blades and then graduated to a set of 2000 blades.


I would love to find just one club from the '63 set - I would frame it. They look awesome and awesome to hit!

I think he's got some serious game as well, but your point about guys that haven't played at that level not having any knowledge about what they're seeing is a fallacy.

I get it...we (I) haven't had that kind of experience on that stage, against that kind of competition, but you don't have to walk in those shoes to know what you're talking about. Whether it's on the PGA tour on Sunday, or a 3' putt to take the money in your weekly game on Sat morning, pressure is pressure, if you've played the game, you've felt pressure...the degree of it is different of course.

Circling back to Sergio last week...I know -13 (and 2nd place) in a WGC event is a good tourney, but the bottom line was he had a nice lead and he felt the pressure Rory was applying and posted a round below his ability (when the course was clearly giving up good scores)...you said he had an off day with the putter, I said he choked...I know he didn't pull a Scott Hoch @ the Masters, but 6 in one hand, half dz in the other to me.

It actually doesn't make a damn bit of difference with respect to most discussions here anyway. Many guys on tour don't even know half the rules. Just because you can play some doesn't make you an authority on all things regarding the sport. But I sort of agree with him regarding the way Tiger is rolling these days. The back is a funny thing, though. Only Tiger knows for sure. Spasms can cause it to lock up one day and you can be perfectly fine 2 days later. It doesn't take a plus handicap to have an informed opinion on that.

He's looking pretty much done. He won't make the cut anyway, so if he has any shred of dignity, he'll finish the round and say, "Back felt ok, I just didn't play well." Otherwise, it looks exactly like SJ has been saying: it only feels bad when he's sucking.

I agree! They put him out there for the ratings so he better buck up and finish! I already lost respect for him ages ago! All he needs to do now is obviously start faking injury when he's not gonna make the cut and others will be done with him as well! When he's in the running, he's pushed through so he should do the same now even though he stinks! With Phil outperforming him, it's got be painful psychologically since they hate one another with a passion!

To my point, NO ONE can win wire to wire on this tour besides 1 guy. The people that were saying Sergio choked, you have no clue what you are talking about. When a guy shoots -13 at Firestone even with a 71 on the last day it's not choking at all, while the #1 player in the world comes out on fire. When you say a guy chokes, you don't understand HOW HARD IT IS TO PLAY AT THAT LEVEL.
