Do you think they handle NW or mich? If you think they do then they did improve
I'm still cautious about that D. Many still think Illini is bad team and honestly they made some stupid mistakes and bad play calling

Not sure of your logic here. I know for a fact that the defense I saw in week 1, 3 & 4 would not handle NW or Michigan. The defense I saw yesterday would have a better chance of handling them. But WILL they handle them? Hell, I dunno. If they improve as much between now and then as they have since week 1, I think they have a very good chance. Whether they DO improve that much, again, hell I dunno.

I saw a lot more aggressiveness, a lot fewer arm/shoulder tackles. Still out of position a lot and too slow on the side line.
Basically what you would expect from a young defense with coordinator in training.

On the other side, was Cross sick today? He just didn't look like himself out there.

Sweetest kool-aid was tackles were a lot better and Pelini looks like he is ready to takes his pooch out and shoot him.

I'm not too worried about the penalties at the end of the game. JP was trying to sub in a lot of reserve players that don't get their number called very often.

yeaaaa ---so is that it ???

this is what you have to offer ???

come on maaaan --give yourn realll thoughts dude :yahoo:

OK, try to keep it short. I used to get pumped every Sat before game time cause I used to see, for the majority of times a good ole ass whooping by the Huskers on the what ever team they played. The D was usually stout enough to keep team in game if needed. Now, that is going quite a few years back 10+ but I miss those days. I'm was not brought up on this type of Husker football so it really sucks.

I guess I was lucky enough to watch the Huskers become a top tier program in the 70's, 80's and 90's. I recall the days, late 80's early 90's when Tom O was taking heat for not being able to win the big one. It seemed the great teams he had, had to play the U or FSU in the Orange Bowl (84, 89, 92, 93, & 94) and took a bit for them to learn how to win those games. But once they did, that is when the run of championships took Tom O to highest level. Though they lost, I think the 94 screw job that gave FSU the game was the future turning point.

I don't see any possible turning point under current leadership.

I guess I always expect more, but not now. So I will not drink "the kool aid" before I see proof first.

Just give me my Bud

Goodrich is still around. They are tied to some Subway's around Omaha. They don't sell milk, eggs, or cheese en sech like they used to. Just ice cream.

I think this feeling is spreading unfortunately. I have had a hard time getting really amped for games this year. Not sure if it is because of this particular team, or the fact that I have a wife and kid now or what. Maybe it has been the opponents so far this year that just don't excite me, other than UCLA. But I also think that you can see it in the student section too. It was glaring on Saturday the number of empty seats in the corner of the south endzone.

There was a thread a few weeks ago talking about the passion of the current students kind of lacking. What needs to change for the passion to come back from fans and students? Part of me thinks that students these days are just fucking lazy and would rather sit at home and jerk off to their playstation that get involved. But that's a huge blanket statement, plus everything was different back when we were growing up right? Up hill both ways barefoot in the snow?
