I don't really "collect" them, but I have accumulated about 7 or 8 of them. My 2 favorites were handed down to me. One from my grandaddy; just a lock blade about 3 or 4 inches long, like this:

BU112b.jpg

and the other is similar to that one except smaller and it was my grandmothers. It was a 15th or 20th anniversary gift from her employer (bellsouth). It has a diamond inlayed in the handle.

The rest of them are a variety of pocket knives from ol timers to gerbers. And I love my gerber multi-tool. That's probably the one that gets the most use.

Here's some of them. There's 2 or 3 missing. They're in my tackle boxes somewhere.

Let's see, top to bottom:

A Smith and Wesson - got it from Cabelas for like 10 bucks
Another Smith and Wesson - Another Cabelas deal
BUCK knife - My grandaddy's knife
Gerber - My grandmother's knife for 25 years at Southern Bell
My Gerber multi-tool
A gift for being a groomsman in my cousin's wedding
Another Gerber - have no idea where it came from
Swiss Army knife - Don't remember when I got it or where.

I just pick them up from time to time. Like I said, I don't really collect them, I just acquire them.

My boss has a huge knife collection... all years, makes & models. He actually has a shop where he makes them too, used to go to knife shows all over the place and sell them but has slowed down tremendously over the last few years. Was even published in a knife magazine or two (not sure which one's, I don't know enough to amount to anything about that stuff).

I collect Knives. I have knives I use and then I have knives for display. I've don't buy much anymore at the retail outlets anymore unless it's a leatherman or a fillet knife. I've gotten into the custom made knives. I own eight of them and 3 I used and 5 I just display in my man cave. Once you get one custom made knife you will want more.

I don't collect them per-say but my favorite knives are the Mora knives. You can get them in carbon steel and stainless.

They're like $10 and they're super sharp, hold an edge wonderfully and if you mess one up you can easily replace them. I have a few of them and they're great. They make some other models as well that are equally as good. I bought mine with a leather pouch that's pretty nice as well for like $25 total. It really makes buying expensive knives obsolete.

I don't collect kives, so to speak, but just have a lot of them(40-50). Specific knives for specific purposes. For instance, I have 3 different size filet knives.

I've got a bunch in a shoe box. A few bucks, a couple of switchblades I got back in the 70's, some different size swiss army knives, and some old collectible advertising pocket knives I've picked up at garage sales/flea markets through the years. I've got a military machete that my dad was issued in the Korean war and handed down to me. I don't have any decorative knives though.

Whittling on a twig was popular when I was a kid in the 60's/70's. Damn near every kid had a pocket knife or buck hanging on their belt. We never stabbed anyone or even thought about it.

Imagine that?

I'm not an avid collector, but I have built up a pretty nice collection of Case and Buck knives.

My pocket knife I always carry is a Case Sod Buster Jr. It's the best single blade knife for the money IMO. Made in the US, stainless steel, can shave your arm out of the box, and easy to sharpen.

Most Buck knives are China knives these days, so most of my Buck knives are older, and I just keep them, don't use them much.

These days, I use an electric knife for most of my hunting/fishing needs and a basic fillet knife of course.

I was finally able to pick up an axe I've been looking at for quite some time -- it finally came back in stock after 6 months:
Marble's Camp Axe

Supposedly, like the Mora Knives, this axe is supposed to be one of the best ones for the money. At $25 I figured I'd give it a whirl since I don't have a small camping axe. I've been wanting this one specifically just for simple fire prep and stuff in the backyard and when I go camping.
