Yes.

I like the move by the Cavs. Instead of hiring somebody who you know to be average, they get somebody who might be great. It is possible that he does not make it, but he could also be the next Popovich.

Some times you have to think outside the box in order to find very good or great coaches. Unfortunately the NBA has a habit of recycling coaches or hiring inexperienced former players as head coaches.

The Cavs did the right thing here.

He can't get a fair evaluation with James there.

They might as well have named James coach, GM, and any other position that makes decisions.

Probably true. He'll get plenty of blame each year they lose, but never more than LeBron. He'll get very little credit in the short term if they win a title... But it would impact his long term legacy heavily.

He's gonna be really good IMO. I was really hoping he would take GS offer. We would have even more impressive staff... But we already have a great staff now of Kerr, gentry and Ron Adams.

The guy is a winner whereever he has been. Great tactical mind. However, not surre he has had to deal with the egos he will face in the NBA. That is a huge part of the job in the NBA. That is the hesitation. Great mind but is he a goos psychologist.

I was really bummed when we didn't get him. But Alvin gentry is a really good basketball mind too who made lac a #1 offense add in Steve Kerrs triangle offense, also Ron Adams was thibs was right hand man on defense

Saban was a great coach in college but did not translate well to the NFL. There is a learning curve in coaching highly, highly paid professional athletes with monster egos who have been pampered. Could be lightening in the bottle or may take time to adjust.

I don't know, the 1st couple years most likely they won't be a great team just a good, young team. I know he will make any coach look good, but a true test will be in these first couple years even with James.

I haven't heard a bad thing about him since he was hired except he has no nba experience. Anthony Parker said he's the best coach he's ever had for what that's worth. I like the unknown factor about him, it could play in his favor. Also anything is better than mike brown at this point.
