oh man, not pleased. He had some good years, but last year he looked awful. I don't know maybe he was injured. I mean I am glad they signed a vet safety, was just hoping it wasn't going to be him.
Not sure of the reasoning for this move as I thought we wanted to get younger and with players that can be here long term. But upgrade overall, I like the player. If we was close it would make more sense.
Yes he collected some stats, but just watch a few Giants games. Anyone can see the problem really easily, he missed LOTS of tackles last year, which is an especially bad quality in your run-supporting safety. I watch games from time to time with a Giants fan, and he was going apoplectic over Rolle this year. Can't say I blamed him.
I actually really like the Royal deal. Gives the Bears an underneath target with a ton of experience playing the slot, and a guy who can return punts well. Both things they missed last year. Royal reminds me a bit of Earl Bennett. Both have had success in the same role with Cutler.
Rolle… meh… it's an upgrade, and at this stage in the game, he should be somewhat cheap.
Eddie Royal, not a bad signing, depending on the price. But he's the sort of solid veteran I was thinking along the lines of. Now we can grab a WR somewhere in the draft, and if he works out, that's a pretty solid group.
While Royal would be the slot answer the Bears have been looking for, he's not BM. Would have loved to have seen him with BM and AJ last year... bah.
Rolle, to me, is a stop gap measure. Would certainly improve the Safety position, but heck I would improve the Safety position for the Bears and I'm old, fat, bald, toothless and slow.
