After 5 years of play? Yeah it is. And it is only a 49er thing? what other 49er retired early from injury? Patrick Willis? Nope, he played a long time
Justin Smith? Nope he played a really long time
Borland? Nope. He flat out quit. Didn't get injured.

Worilds played the same amount of years as Davis. He retired as well. Jake Locker just retired and played less years. Jonathan Franklin retired after one season due to injury. It happens all the time

Davis said he will come back in a year or two. He got a severe concussion and it might be still effecting him.
Borland just quit? Fits right in about this being a 49er problem. Willis? Tell me did you or any other 49er predict this would happen? Let me save you the time, no not even. Nobody saw this coming. Yeah, yeah, I know he had some issues, but retire? Nope, didn't see that coming at all and neither did you.

so basically right now, the whole 49'er franchise depends on Colin Kaepernick?

What has the front office done? They got rid of Harbaugh who was stubborn and would not change his offensive coordinator or game plan when it was clear it was not working. They added a new HC that has been by all accounts, from reporters who disliked him being promoted, very innovative in his practices. The have good position coaches and coordinators. Just because 2 people retire and one quits and admitted he was going to only play for one year no matter what to prove to himself that he could play in the NFL does not mean that the FO is doing anything wrong.

In fact, I would say they are improving the team a lot. They drafted and brought in free agents to replace everyone that has left. The only position that they really did not address at all this season was CB, but that was because they drafted 4 CBs last season.

People just love to blame the FO with no facts only conjecture.
I appreciate your optimism, but I respectfully disagree.

Funny how things were portrayed that the players were sick of Harbaugh and his ways and now that he's gone...

Another player seems to be legitimately concerned with the damaging health effects of playing in the NFL.

After Borland's surprising retirement, I predicted that more young players would walk away from the game. I just didn't expect it to be yet another one of ours.

You have to be a blind homer, to defend that FO.

Stupid for Tomsula to say that, not that I'm surprised based on his earlier displays with the media. What if Davis has a change of heart and wants to come back? Now you just publicly cut him at the knees, and he was your starting RT.

Clearly the 49ers are in restart mode.. and rebuild mode..which takes multiple years. They are most likely going to tank at least next year or the year after, just so they can get the #1 NFL Draft pick for 2016. That's my opinion. They don't have a chance in that division, let alone the entire NFC. The redskins look better than the 49ers. It's a shame too, because if they had not fired their coach, they wouldn't be in this position. The 49ers management is terrible.

The niner window has slammed shut and with that front office I don't see it opening any time soon.

What the heck is going on ? You wonder seriously if upper management is just ticking players off right now... I look at it this way though... Between the SF Giants and GS Warriors I'm sure it eases some pain ...

Perhaps Jim Harbaugh used up the players by not subbing enough IDK. Pretty strange to see so many players retire in one off season. Between the trades, retired players, and all those leaving as FAs, that is a ton of turn over in one season. Not to mention the new coaching staff. Sounds like a rebuild situation happening.

.....in regards to this certain individual (stepping away) who are we to question his thinking-process,.....we're not feeling his pain, headaches, etc.,......maybe $5-mill. In his bank account (?) is enough to start a second career that he had all mapped-out,.........and after 4-years playing he's entitled to a NFL/pension too,.....~bravo~.
