It's more than odd. You have to wonder if something is going on there that is just making players commit career suicide and walking away from the game early. And now there's this Tomsula goofball coaching it all? Going to be a long year in Santa Clara.

Never thought I'd say this but I'm actually on the verge of feeling sorry for the Niners. Not there yet but closed.

Boone will move over to RT is my guess so an offensive line of

Staley, Thomas. Kilgore, Martin, Boone still pretty good. Davis was good, but played very little last season due to recurring injuries.

I thought this was a joke when I first saw it. Wow.

Anthony Davis of San Francisco 49ers retires - NFL.com

A Seahawks' fan couldn't have written this colonoscopy of an offseason any better. :(
Wow! Your right, this off season has been nothing but bad news for the 49ers. This should even convince the die hards that the 49ers need a total make over. My God, this as to go down as one the worse offseason ever for a NFL team.
Oh, yeah I admit I love it, just wish breaker was still here to hear all the news.

welp 49ers fans, go ahead and pull those garbage-era cranberry-red jerseys out of the attic, because you're about to go back to that

He missed some games last year, but previous to that he started every game for the niners. This is a huge loss.

Got rid of the Crabtree avatar, funny but it turns out you were right in the first place.

Yep. Ditching that avatar feels refreshing like I just took a huge dump. Rooting for Crabtree was almost as painful as it is to root for Tattoo man. He went to the perfect team for me to pour on the Hatorade.

Let's see how many more arrests and / or retirements they can get up to by week 1 (I'm talking to you #7).

There is something going on.... It's called The worst front office in the NFL.

I do not blame anyone in the front office for this. The 49ers have played tough teams and have had some of the hardest schedules for the last 4 years. Playing big physical teams like the NFCW twice a year was bad enough, but the NFL also gave us hard schedules from other divisions. Playing NO in NO like 3 yearss in a row. How many times have we played GB lately? Flying across country on a short week to play Baltimore. It all adds up to players getting beat up and not lasting as long.

So has every other team in the NFC west. I'm telling you, that front office is not helping matters.

Who's the next 49er player calling it quits? Unreal how many have, you don't see other teams having this problem.

What has the front office done? They got rid of Harbaugh who was stubborn and would not change his offensive coordinator or game plan when it was clear it was not working. They added a new HC that has been by all accounts, from reporters who disliked him being promoted, very innovative in his practices. The have good position coaches and coordinators. Just because 2 people retire and one quits and admitted he was going to only play for one year no matter what to prove to himself that he could play in the NFL does not mean that the FO is doing anything wrong.

In fact, I would say they are improving the team a lot. They drafted and brought in free agents to replace everyone that has left. The only position that they really did not address at all this season was CB, but that was because they drafted 4 CBs last season.

People just love to blame the FO with no facts only conjecture.

Players retire all the time on every team due to injury.

Not at a young age, that's rare. Pretty much a 49er thing.
After 5 years of play? Yeah it is. And it is only a 49er thing? what other 49er retired early from injury? Patrick Willis? Nope, he played a long time
Justin Smith? Nope he played a really long time
Borland? Nope. He flat out quit. Didn't get injured.

Worilds played the same amount of years as Davis. He retired as well. Jake Locker just retired and played less years. Jonathan Franklin retired after one season due to injury. It happens all the time

Davis said he will come back in a year or two. He got a severe concussion and it might be still effecting him.
