Are you forgetting the Pats gave up a first and third for Cooks? I just think people just love to find reasons to criticize everything Dallas does.Pats get Gordon for a low 5th. We get Coop for a mid first. Sounds about right to me.

The Saints gave up 1st and 3rd to move up and draft Cooks. The Pats give a first and third for Cooks. The Rams give a 1st for Cooks. All these moves were applauded. The Cowboys trade a first for Amari Cooper and the general consensus is Dallas got fleeced

You can't ever include NE. First off our 1st is likely worth more than their 1st and 3rd combined and A LOT more. Next they are always looking for SBs THIS YEAR we are not. The Rams too were at a point where if they added a top Offensive talent they knew they were in the SB mix. Each situation is different. The Saints gave up 1st and 3rd to move up and draft Cooks. So here we are. If anyone feels this wasn't a panic move by the Cowboys I'd love to hear it. I would have been very disappointed if we gave up a 2nd, I never even considered we may give up a 1st. I think this was a horrible mistake for a team that is clearly not an Amari Cooper away from a SB. I'm not even sure how good I think Cooper even is after his recent play.
But, what's done is done and I am excited to see the Offense next game. Regardless of how horrible I think the trade was for us we got better on the field and a decent amount better I think. Everyone was saying we weren't good enough on Offense, so now let's see what happens. The division is an absolute toss up and even if Cooper isn't the legit elite #1 he looked like he was going to be he can be enough of an improvement for us to win a couple more games (like perhaps last week).
So those of you who know me, know I don't like giving up prime draft picks and I am very conscious about salary when it comes to FA moves (or trades) because I always stress that as part of evaluating the deal and look to see what else you can do for your team if you use those picks and $'s elsewhere (for example, we could have Cooper or ET AND a 1st round pick for about the same $'s next year). That being said, I'm not angry about this like I thought I would be. If nothing else we will find out what we really have with this team. I'm kind of talking myself into thinking maybe if Cooper just needed a change of scenery that we may all look back and be happy with this. Even though we have 100% nailed all our #1's lately, you just never know. For every Zach Martin there is a Johnathon Cooper and Floyd Womack. Maybe we were due for a Floyd Womack???
So Fuck it. Go Cowboys and double fuck it...now I'm getting tickets for the next game and flying down to Dallas again
Didn't you know all SEC players are gaurenteed to be can't miss like Claiborne. Seems alot of Alabama o-lineman have failed.Floyd Pork Chop Womack was a 4rth round pick. Ha. I think you mean Chance Warmack- the supposed cant miss guard out of Alabama.
Bad Boy MurphProblem is going to be, he can't throw it to himself and Jason Garrett is still going to be the head coach

I agree with you. There are no WR's projected in the top 15-20 of the early mocks I have seen. There is no question that after leaving Calvin Ridley on the board this year, they were going to have to go after a WR next early in the draft. If they felt Cooper is better than anything they might have gotten at WR in the draft, then this is a solid move.A one is high, but he is only 24 and can be a beast. They needed a number one and got one.
Not true at all. This is bad analysis and you clearly haven’t done any research.Brandin Cooks is a little more established than Cooper. At the time of trade Cooks was scene as a player who was on the rise, or at least not falling off. Cooper is on a clear decline the past season and a half. There is good reason to doubt Cooper going forward, Cooks didn't have such concerns.
Not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison.
The team upgraded at a position of need at a position that takes time to develop. Whether it was a panic move or not is irrelevant. The Cowboys got better today but this fan base likes to find fault in every move the team makes. So here we are. If anyone feels this wasn't a panic move by the Cowboys I'd love to hear it.
