"It's a common word in so many players' everyday lives," he told themmqb.com. "Among African-American players and people, it's used among friends all the time. It seems like a bit much for the NFL to try to get rid of it. It's a pretty common word in the locker room."

I think it is racist that black people can say it and be ok and if I said it to them, I have some issues coming my way. On top of that, I dont ever recall a black man getting in trouble of any sort for saying cracker or honkey. It is bullshit. If it is such a bad word and degrading, why is it so popular to use for blacks? I hear conversations where it is the most used word... This whole double standard is ridiculous. I understand blacks don't want "the man" calling them that but don't go around using it yourself then.

They should let anyone say any word without repercussions or ban all slurs. If Richard Sherman can say it to another player, Peyton Manning should be able to say the same thing to the same player and not catch crap for it.

Another point some folks continue to miss is that this is also directed at using this type of language against black refs and at least one black ref was one of the major reasons for creating this rule in the first place. Perhaps the rule should be extended to include other language, but I am not too upset if some of these refs want to avoid being insulted in this manner.

Insulting an official is already a penalty though isn't it?

No problem - then just expand it to other words. My point is not so much about whether the rule is correct, but that it is not a big deal for these guys to abide by it. Honestly - can these guys act like bigger babies? If say someone at my work stated that starting today there will be no cussing anywhere well I would probably get a little ticked but eventually get used to it and after a while not really think much of it. Same situation here - there are much bigger fish to fry. Like I said - time to grow up.

Who said that they are not going to abide? You think just because some are saying that its dumb that they're just going to take the flags when the season rolls around? I don't know a single person that doesn't bitch about stupid things pertaining to their job, and banning one single slur is stupid. I hope these guys so out there and call eachother fucking faggot piece of shit beaners, kikes and honkeys just to mess with the refs.
