They are both out of their minds. Bridgewater all day.

I don't see what all the fuss with him is about. I watched Louisville a few times and he played like shit every time. Manziel is a straight up winner. Watched his will his team to victory numerous times. He's like Tebow without all the crosses. Never watched Blaine Bortles and James play so I have nothing.

Im just going off the benchmark numbers for "good". Read 'em in a book yesterday. (If it weren't for all those pick 6's.....). Seriously though, Cleveland is gonna fuggin' love Schaub.

Shaub blows. Big deal he complete 60% of those 3 yard passes. I had the displeasure of watching him several games and he has nothing left. He cant get the ball down field. Gordon will be useless

Neither do I. I didn't see a ton of college FB but Manzeil looked better than all of them. I think he fits better at Jacksonville though. Bridgewater probably better for Houston. Bortles could fit Jacksonville too but probably not Houston. My guess is he lands in Cleveland.

Another Example.... Say Suh gets resigned and makes 14 million next year.

You honestly believe ANY defensive tackle is worth 14 million a year? Geno Atkins was just made the 3rd highest paid DT behind Suh and McCoy (who are playing on their absurd rookie contracts) -- he is getting paid 10.665 million a year.

Is Suh worth 3.3 million more a year than Geno Atkins, who has actually put up better numbers than Suh facing the same double teams game in and game out?

You also have to take into consideration -- if Suh were to sign the extension for 14 million a year -- he average cap hit, if it were another 5 year deal would be over 16+ million dollars a year or 5+ million more than they next highest paid player at his position.

Worth every penny. Find WRs in late rounds like everyone else and do what it takes to keep our D line intact.

I was curious to see where the top WR's were drafted. This is what I found. Only two of the top 19 were drafted in what I would consider "late rounds".

Josh Gordnon- 2nd
Antonio Brown- 6th
Calvin Johnson- 1st
Demaryius Thomas- 1st
A.J. Green- 1st
Ashlon Jeffrey-2nd
Andre Johnson- 1st
Pierre Garcon- 6th
Desean Jackson- 2nd
Jordy Nelson- 2nd
Brandon Marshall- 4th
Erick Decker- 3rd
Dez Bryant- 1st
Vincent Jackson- 2nd
Anquan Boldin- 2nd
Torrey Smith- 2nd
T.Y. Hilton- 3rd
Kendall Wright- 1st
Harry Douglas- 3rd

TOTALS:
1st: 6
2nd:7
3rd:3
4th:1
6th:2

Of course, this list doesn't include injured guys like Percy Harvin, Julio Jones, Larry Fitgerald, and Roddy White who were, you guessed it, all drafted in the 1st round

This post supports my point. All of these guys in bold (including our own CJ) were drafted to be no.1 WR's. We already have our no.1 WR. The only team here to use another 1st round pick on another WR is ATL, and that trade has crippled them. They thought they were one player away from the SB and they were wrong.

Did you do research on where the top no. 2 WR's are taken on average?

D'you guys know Ted Ginn Jr. was once the #9 overall pick? Same year as CJ. Id forgot that. (Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meachum, Buster Davis (His real name is Craig, I guess.)and Anthony Gonzalez all went in the first round that year as well.)

One time the Lions used a 1st rounder on a WR named Charles Rogers. 100% chance he is high in a parking lot somewhere right now as I type this...Mike Williams sitting shotgun drinking purple drank.

Rob, I misinterpreted your original statement. I didn't realize that you were referencing a #2 WR. My bad for not paying more attention.

I'd be interested in the no.2 look. I may do it myself if I can find the time. I like your research though. That is my kind of post. If CJ was 2 or 3 years older, I'd be all about a WR in round 1 if it was the right guy.

If they pay Suh way more than Atkins, he better put up some huge numbers and not just warrant double teams.

Lol. So if there's a WR there that could potentially be a #1, you don't draft him because you're looking strictly for a #2?

Here's my stance. If Watkins is there at #10, I hope we take him. If not, I hope we can trade down and land Evans. Those are really the only wrs I would want to see the Lions take. Simply bc those are the only ones I could see being an eventual #1 WR. I like Matthews a lot, but I can't see him ever being anything more than a #2, not that there's anything wrong with that.

However, CJ is no spring chicken and his body is already being beat the fuck up. I don't wanna wait til CJ is "washed up" to find his replacement. I would like to give that replacement time to learn and grow alongside CJ, like what Alshon is doing with Marshall(best duo in NFL imo).

But, if neither of those moves are possible, we still need a young productive WR to help take some slack off of CJ. So if we land someone via FA or on the 2nd or 3rd day of draft, so be it. As long as they help keep CJ healthier. We've all seen what our O looks like without him in it.

I don't think you ever draft anyone in any round to be a #2 guy. In the Lions situation, the GM knows that any WR he drafts probably isn't going to be as talented as CJ but if you think that someone doesn't have a chance to be that good in the future, don't draft him. Many will say that if you only look at people you think could be as good as CJ, you are not going to have very many WR's on your roster but, as you mentioned, it is possible to find a gem in the later rounds, just not likely. Now, if you want to draft someone that complements CJ's talent that is a different story. For that same reason, I would never draft a tackle that I thought would never have the ability to play on the blindside.

It happens. Usually guys who can "spread the field" and "open things up" for the no.1 WR...guys like Torrey Smith, Mike Wallace (at the time), Randall Cobb etc...But I agree with you. You want that WR to eventually be the man. Like I said, if CJ was 2 or 3 years older, I could see a case for grooming his replacement now. But that's not a priority right now. On top of this, the Lions have clearly drafted WR's to play bit parts with Titus and Broyles, neither of which would ever be a no.1 on any team. But, that's the Lions.

Totally agree with the underlined part. Even on the right side, you need to be able to pass block in today's NFL.

The thing is, I don't think the Lions could trade down too far and still get Evans. If he runs well, catches well and looks fluid in and out his breaks, you can take him at ten. He should have a similar impact as Jefferies did. Plus, I know teams will want him because not many teams have a big target like that.
