I certainly could be wrong but I don't think San Jose will put a claim in on him. Dougies never been one to admit his mistakes and that is what he'd be doing by claiming Nabokov. San Jose is also just one contract under the limit of 50. I don't think he'll waste that last spot on another goalie.

Exactly right. Agreed 100% on all accounts.

I wouldn't make a big deal out of the Nitty injury. The Sharks were forced to put him directly on IR to open up a roster spot so they could sign a back-up for the game last night. It was after the deadline to assign someone to Woosta so the only way to clear a roster spot was to move someone to the IR.

Makes sense. Since the injury happened in practice, oh what, hours before gametime. I sure hope it's not an injury to his hip.

DP claims he's almost sure it's his groin and judged by his mobility off the ice that it didn't seem very serious.

Sharks put a claim in for Nabby

Could it be true? HOCKEYBUZZ.com says there are 3 sources that says its true.

Holly Shit, I know its a long shot, but what if Doug planned everything to go down like this.

McKenzie, LeBrun, and Dreger are about the only ones I really trust when it comes to info like this. All three have sources at the league office.

I'm thinking putting a claim in on nabby is about a big a waste of a roster spot as walin, huskins, and mcginn combined

Ouch thats harsh... I think putting him on the roster for next to nothing and trading one of the $2 mil all-stars in net for a draft pick would be pretty sweet... Nice cap reduction to go after a Dman...

Nabby/Nitty - Nabby/Niemi >>>>>>>>>>>> Nitty/Niemi

Then again Wallin >>>>>>>>> Weber

It'll be interesting to see what happens if the Sharks do end up with Nabby. You gotta figure that one of their goalies is gone, most likely Niittymaki. While I'd still rather the Sharks not claim Nabby, having him over Niitty would save some cap space. I'd imagine that even if the Sharks get Nabby, the starting job will still be Niemi's to lose. It seems like that's how it's been all season. However it won't make a bit of difference who is in goal if Wallin and Huskins are still around and the back check continues to lag.

Sounds like he ended up with the Islanders. Fine by me.

Ouch, that sucks for Nabby.

I wouldn't even show up to play there but he probably will.

Or can he now be packaged in a separate trade by the trade deadline? (without having to re-clear waivers)

You can't trade a player during the same season you claim him.

Yeah... had just read that... makes sense.

His agent supposedly said he'd report to any team that claimed him because he wants to audition for next season (also makes sense) but I wonder how many starts he'll actually get... will be interesting to see.

I am glad that Nabby was able to get back into the NHL. Too bad the Sharks already played the Islanders this year. We'll have to wait for his return to the Tank until next season.

He says he may not report to the Isles. What does that mean?

Haha... Awesome! I wouldn't report to play for NYI either.

They can either suspend him (without pay, I assume) so he'd just continue to sit at home and watch hockey on TV for the rest of the season or they can put him back on waivers (I think?) and he'd go to the next highest waiver order team that put in a claim for him... or if there were no others, he'd go to Detroit.
