That's certainly interesting and something to keep an eye on. If it does come to pass, I just hope its not on Axs. I don't get that channel and every provider in my area has it on its highest tier. Not paying a premium just for that one channel to watch one show

If you take the report at face value Jim Ross in administrative role gives any wrestling start up instant credibility, the Bullet club is pure internet buzz, and most importantly the Khan family has unlimited financial resources and NFL level TV connections.

The Khan's own the Jags,one of the lowest attendance NFL franchises and one always being rumored to be moving. That doean't give me any confidence they would run a wrestling company any better than they do their NFL team. Of course they could always get the right people to run it for them and keep their hands off but would they???????

It's tough for a small market team in Florida to draw big crowds, especially without a franchise QB.

They were in the AFC championship game last year and he has Coughlin running the front office so overall I'd say Shahid Kahn has been a good, competent NFL owner.

It's also worth noting he's from humble middle class roots. This is obviously an intelligent man who knows how to run a business.

Of course there are a bunch of questions about the report and one is which member of the Khan family is most involved. It'd be interesting if this is Tony's first major business move.

Another problem is that the top wrestling talent associated with the report are not free agents. Although some maybe soon. Cody being the NWA champ (I haven't read the results of NWA 70 yet) could also complicate his involvement as I don't know what deal he signed with NWA, if any.

I'm certain we'll hear about it when /if they sign a TV deal and/or start signing talent to a new promotion. Until then, I always take these kind of reports with a huge grain of salt. Talk is cheap and other wrong, when actions start then we have something to hang our hats on.

I agree this should still be filed in the rumor stage but my link is from Jason Powell's site and not the original report. He used to work at PWtorch and is a recurring guest on Jim Ross's podcast so he has legitimate connections in the wrestling business. While he doesn't break stories as often as Johnson or Meltzer I definitely don't think he'd make this up out of thin air.

He said there's been rumors about this for a while and he reached out to Tony Khan on 9/12 but got no response.

The AXS TV part from the other report seems to be incorrect and it's hard to say what stage there at with this but something is in the works... will it materialize? Not sure

The report from Satin is that Cody and the Bucks are spearheading this and JR/Jericho are just in negotiations for talent roles
Jericho and JR share an agent so he might be the person providing clarification on their behalf. Probably not true, just throwing that out there as a guess.

I'll go full blown mark and list my top 5 realistic on air talent options for a hypothetical wrestling company that might not even have a TV contract yet...

1. Pac. This one's obvious. One of the best wrestlers in the world but he decided to go to dragon gate instead of New Japan/ROH/Impact. Maybe he's bidding his time until this launches

2. AJ Styles. If the reports are true that he's looking for less dates and more family time then a Florida based promotion built on 1 TV show a week is perfect for him if the money's right. He's from Georgia and is obviously close with the Elite. If they do sign a WWE main eventer AJ makes the most sense.

3. Big E. No clue on his contract status and I'm sure he's making a killing on merchandise but I think he has the same upside as the Shield guys, Drew McIntyre et al but isn't utilized that way. Great promos and can go in the ring. Still has 10 years of his prime left if he stays healthy. If the Khans are spending real money on this Big E is the WWE mid carder they should hand a blank check too.

4. Mauro Ranallo. Arguably the best play by play man since AE Jim Ross but is working NXT. He has obvious ties to the elite/Japan.

5. Vega/Almas. Kind of shocked they've been booked as a mid card act. So talented.

Id also look for talent that has not been discovered yet.

Case in point. The heel in the first match at all in.

Conti from NXT might be a good pickup if they are interested in a female division.

One of the many reasons I think WWE is so successful is the fact that they can reach a far audience in the US and Canada because everyone with cable has USA network and Sportsnet 360.

These are not premium channels.

If i were them. Talk to ABC because if you get ESPN then chances are good that are you will get TSN in Canada

I agree, ESPN, ESPN2 etc would be the ideal broadcasting partner if they had any interest in wrestling on their network. Any cable network on a basic tier would work but the cross promotion with a live sports network would be best.

I obviously don’t know the back story of the son but a wrestling fan who has blank check like never been seen before in the business can’t really hurt it. The only thing that would concern me is the tv contract but eventually someone in the world of any sport with hook up with Netflix or Amazon or any of the other steaming devices. Putting a show on at 11 pm or have it steaming where you can watch it at anytime convenient? Won’t he as much money as WWE gets but a newbie with cash to burn has the ability to choose exposure over money on a start up which is business 101.
