Not so sure McCloughan made a mistake with Alf. He had one big game against Miami in a blow out and his other to games were 5 for 17 and 3 for 11.

I love Alf the person but his running declined every year.

I think people are not putting enough weight into Alfs ability to pass protect.

How about Alfs ability to STAY healthy and be dependable? Very underrated traits.

Nobody wanted Alf in FA. He signed late and I think he only got a million. Jones had way more upside than Alf that is why Alf was let go. Its just unfortunate that Jones got hurt in the pre season. Plus there is very little downgrade from Alf to Kelley.

Upside is a non issue if you aren't on the field. Time will tell the story regarding Alf and Jones.

but that is how you look at things in the off season. You cant forecast an injury.

Jones was injured last year in his first year and was injured in college. Alf, not so much in 4 years of play.

Yes but we are looking to the future. If Alf was a hot commodity why did he last so late in FA and basically get a vet min contract at 25 years old? he is easily replaceable b/c he gave us no value on 3rd downs and way too slow. Its probably going to be RBBC this year.

This is about dependability and durability to me. And letting a player go (for not much $$) before having an assured and proven better player.

Morris got a two year $3.5 million deal from Dallas, with $1.8 million fully guaranteed.

Morris brought something that neither Jones or Thompson has shown the ability to have.... the ability to stay healthy and be available to play. Here we are eight days from the start of the season and right now we have two of our three RBs as questionable due to injury. Both have had a long history of injury and honestly after we get through the week one game, it would not surprise me to see the team try and get Mack Brown on the active roster and Suds on the Practice Squad. We just cant depend on Jones to stay healthy no matter how much "upside" they might see in him.

I agree, but we have Kelley. Those three backs in a RBBc should be fine. Plus we always have the option for P. Thomas. Or if worst comes to worst sign Brown from the practice squad. RB is the easiest position to do plug and play. Im not worried about it at all this year. I believe in next years draft we will find our Franchise RB.

Jones is banged up but the guy has huge upside. Give him a chance this season to see what he can do.

As i said we are 8 days away from the start of the season. You really feel comfortable with the three RBs we have considering two of them have been nursing injures the past three weeks??

Yes. Jones will be 100%. I believe that injury got overblown. Plus Thompson and Kelley are 100%. With our WR's and Te's we should see light run boxes. The hype on Jones now is low b/c of the injury but I still think he is going to have a huge year. He might start off slow but he will be the guy. Im going to try to steal him late in fantasy. Im eyeing Reed 3rd round. I might just draft all four(KC,Jones, Reed, and Jax). That is how confident i'm in our offense this year.

Jones at 100% still couldnt hold Morris' post game jock strap. They did everything in the world to give Jones the shot to take the starting back role last year. And he didnt even outperform Alf.

Of course he did. When Jones went down are running game suffered. Morris was awful. Thomas came in and gave us a boost. There is a reason why SM let a 25 year old RB go. Now he is back in the read option offense with Dak so me might do well like he did with RG3.

Two injury prone RBs and a rookie.... just remember that. When Jones was healthy he sucked ass last year.

Perhaps but that is a bit overstated. He has really only played significant time in a handful of games the past two seasons because of his backup role. You could perhaps make this case during his time w/ the Redskins (when he was a young back), but I think a lot of backs would not get injured much in that backup role especially when he is running behind the Boys' O line. I still believe that he is a decent back at this time but not really much more.

We will always have reminder posts like this because usually the issue comes down to having an experienced, well respected GM. One, who not only knows how to properly evaluate talent, but, also has a keen sense of timing and getting value for players as they begin to lose that edge. I said then and I'll say now, we have players like Ammo and because we lack that dedicated GM, we'll continue to lose them, without compensation, in the same manner that he was allowed to leave.

We have Bruce Allen....need I say more?

the above post is dumb.

Morris ran well because he was running behind a great offensive line, and running against a decimated defensive front seven. That is all.

It's easy to stay healthy, like the energizer bunny, if you never see the field.

Please.
