I hate to say this but if the Pats really want to set a precedent about being professional and having high standards they will cut him today. In light of the AH thing the Pats took the high ground now would be the time to back it up.

God I hope Glas I can stay healthy this year

From what some were saying (and this is all conjecture) is that it could be possible that Lincoln Police realized who it was and wanted to set him up.

I agree they might not release him but they'll hear about their sham philosophy in all the Boston rags if they don't. As far as refusing the test goes, he was on probation and the court can find him guilty of a violation with testimony from the arresting officers. They said he smelled of alcohol and showed signs of impairment and that is enough. If the county probation office determines there was a violation, they'll inform the Lancaster County Attorney who will then file a motion to revoke his probation and he'll have to appear before a judge. If his probation is revoked, the judge can impose a new sentence under his original felony conviction which included up to five years in the can. I expect he'll do more than the thirty days he originally had to do.

Add to that league disciplinary action such as a suspension.

While I can believe that, Alfonso needs to stay the hell out of Nebraska. Swoop in, take a cab (limo...) to the probation office, swoop the hell out. Unless he is appearing at a policemans charity event, Nebraska needs to be like Siberia to him.

On top of that, if they keep him and then he is a repeat offender (is second offense a felony? third?) or worse does injure/kill some one, national rags will be all over them.

If they keep him, he needs to be on a very short leash. Rehab, abstinance, escorts...not that type of escort...

All the more reason IMO for the Pats to make a stand now. At the very least they could impose a temporary team suspension until the matter is cleared up or clarified. This way the team still sends the message of " Hey we are not playing with you idiots" and they don't actually cut or lose him

I just read a twit that said Dennard passed the initial test blowing into the breathalyzer but officer claimed he did not blow hard enough. They never offered Dennard, according to Dennard, a blood test so that is why they arrested him on suspicion of DUI and not DUI. How the heck can you tell someone isn't blowing hard enough?

This means they have no real evidence he was DUI if they have no breathalyzer or blood data so it comes down to the cop saying he was drunk and Dennard saying he was not so prove it.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 49m
More Dennard: He took a field sobriety test, was told it did not indicate inebriation. His report says he took 1, not that he failed it.

Details from someone who heard Alfonzo Dennard's side of his arrest: He attempted to blow for breathalyzer twice. Told he was below limit...

In a DUI you normally need proof he was drinking and driving. A police officers word is normally not a viable alternative if it is correct he passed both the field sobriety perp walk and the breathalyzer. I posted this because it seems a little strange he was arrested for SUSPICION of DUI since I always thought you were arrested for DUI because they had physical proof you were drunk.

A friend of mine was arrested under similar circumstances in NH and the Judge was so irate over the officer conduct he chastised him and reminded him you need proof someone is driving under influence and not your guess. My friend passed the field sobriety test in 5 inch heels so she was sober and the officer claimed the breathalyzer was broken but he was sure she was driving under the influence.

If what Rappaport is reporting is true this case is a complete joke except for the nasty possibility of simply driving a nice car while black in Nebraska is against the law. Kind of like not telling anyone you are a cop and being involved in a fight and getting someone convicted of striking a police officer.

If the reports are accurate they have no case.

Guess I'll just wait to see how all this washes out.

wow nebraska cops are shady. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport sent out a series of tweets Friday morning with information from someone who had heard Dennard’s claims about the arrest. According to Rapoport, Dennard twice took a breathalyzer test and the results showed he was below the legal limit, meaning he was not guilty of driving while under the influence. However, the “officer told [Dennard] he hadn’t blown hard enough, thus the did not comply designation.” Rapoport added that Dennard was not asked to take a blood test but did pass a field sobriety test. pass the field test. crap. passed the breathalizer twice. double crap. want to get his blood? no way that will prove hes not drunk. what a joke. these cops are corrupt and trying to frame dennard who supposidly punched one of their fellow corrupt cops not long ago.

Those two statements are contradictory, only because there should not have been the initial conviction. My guess, as someone else already stated, the cop(s) knew it was Dennard and they were going to take every opportunity to smear his name/reputation. Unfortunatly the Kraft/Patriots names are collateral damage, because the stupid majority will remember Dennard-Patriots player-arrested-DUI, and will never even hear Dennard cleared.

I still can't figure why the hell he is going back. He must have a love interest in that area.

Dennard has absolutely no history of any issues EVER other than the Nebraska stuff. In both cases it does appear the officers were shall we say less than competent and forthcoming.

most of the time you wont find that here.. unless its a viable option such as tebow as a te or converted h-back.. if he can catch.. trolls mostly stay away and people stick to thier own boards. occasionally you will have a crossover, but if you say something really dumb on the main boards be prepared to get blasted. more often in a good natured way..

I read a tweet from the reporter covering his earlier trial saying his probation did not have a "no alcohol" component. He didn't fail a test in this latest arrest so he should only have to face the sentencing judge again if he's found to have violated his probation through the testimony of the arresting officers. They don't need a test result.
