Most likely a two-down thumper in the NFL... but Alexander Johnson is well on his way to making the #Broncos 53 man roster with his weekly improvements, growth, and flashes in both practice and preseason.


He's not likely to ever be a great cover backer, nor is he a true sideline-to-sideline speedster, but this throwback-style linebacker is impressing despite his tumultuous journey to the league.


Considering the injuries mounting up on Denver's linebacking corps, someone has needed to step up and show something. Johnson has answered the call.

My thought is if the Broncos are going light and fast at the defensive line of scrimmage (Jones - Harris) then having heavy thumpers who can clean up what gets past them is probably a good strategy.

"Johnson’s [28] total tackles without a missed tackle are the most of any player in the league over the month of October, and despite being targeted 20 times as the primary coverage defender (sixth-most among linebackers over the last four weeks), Johnson is allowing just under six yards per target on those plays."

With a 92.4 overall defensive grade out of 100, Johnson currently ranks as the league's top linebacker, according to Pro Football Focus. The site's metrics rate Johnson as a well-rounded linebacker with few weaknesses — his grades in coverage (91.1), run defense (91.0) and tackling (82.5) rank first, first, second and 12th among linebackers as the Broncos head into the bye week

That right there is such music to my ears !!!!!!!! Yahoo every time I start to think of these building blocks most of this team is rather young.that are stepping up we are way closer to winning than most would think to look at our Record alone.

I am not sure where this season goes but Our D is going to be rather deadly next year. I see a widow Reopening next year for an SB run if we can Develop a QB to be ready at the start of next year. I think we Drafted the right guy in Lock a year to season .

Davontae Harris is making some noise too. Improving each week and making big clutch plays.

Duke Dawson is getting better each week too.
