There are two thing to be said here.

The first is a hearty L.O.L. at the redskins, who not only butchered the Kirk situation but also you just KNOW they gave up way too much for Smith and it may even have been a first rounder, in which case many people I know might just become apoplectic, although that's their fault for being skins fans.

The second is that Alex Smith despite being a little...limited, shall we say, is by all accounts a good dude and a decent qb. I can only imagine how pissed he was to learn this news lol!

Being a Skins fan I am fine with this move, and who the hell knows how much they gave up (certainly not you) Let's wait & see what they gave up before rushing to judgment. All is good - now go carry on w/ your stupid rant about the Redskins name.

Dude they just signed Alex Smith. They no longer need wide receivers.
Nah, that's an argument from 2011 that doesn't even try and simplifies the issue. Reid has proven you can get WR's that work with Smith. Crowder does well with Smith I am going to bet. I think you're joking, but just in case you aren't...

Smith has a multi year, multi million dollar contract while Cousins doesn’t have a job now. Don’t think he’s feeling that happy about things right now.
I disagree.
He is the happiest!

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns also attempted to trade for Alex Smith before he was dealt to the Redskins.

The offers were likely similar from both the Redskins and Browns, and ultimately it was likely Smith's decision. Smith admitted earlier on Tuesday in an interview with The Dan Patrick Show that he'd like to join a contender while scoffing at the notion of joining the Browns. Upon agreement of the trade, the Redskins also gave Smith a four-year extension, something Smith likely won't have signed in Cleveland coming off a 1-31 record the last two years. New Browns GM John Dorsey will have to turn his attention elsewhere. He may dip into the Kirk Cousins market, but it's also hard to see Cousins going there after talking about his desire to win.

He’ll be pretty happy when he gets that big bag of money from whoever has the most. Because he’s getting a BIG bag of money soon.

holy phuck!

a couple years ago they could have signed Cousins to a lesser contract & still have half the contract to go LOL :laugh3:

71 mil guaranteed? for a stop gap QB waiting for the future QB? I would imagine no matter what now. He has stay at least 3 of those years before being able to cut him (maybe 4)
Love the fact the Redskins are in the NFC East!

Congrats to Alex Smith however. That is an awesome last contract to leave the NFL with!:thumb:

More proof that the QB market is based on scarcity and not quality; though if Alex actually does repeat this last season he'll be plenty worth it. Lol @ giving him that when you have Cousins there.

And that’s where the Redskins fucked up. They should have locked Kirk up two years ago at the market level THEN. Because - the QB market NEVER goes down. Ever.
