My point was that he's not taking less than the Franchise Tag amount.
Teams wont be tied to the Tag, he will get offers and take the best one that fits his situation. He won't get Tag money.

That Denver 2nd round pick is MUCH better than the one they got from the Redskins but Fuller is younger than Talib and sending Alex to the NFC is so much better than the alternative.

Whole bunch of nope on Talib. Not at 32. Not at that contract.

I'll take Fuller every day of the week over Talib at his contract and age.

Tyrod if he hits FA.
Keenum, Bradford, or Bridgewater in FA.
Taking a QB at 13.
Sitting tight and rolling with McCoy and a mid round QB and continuing to build the rest of the roster.

All of them are better options IMO.

Taylor and Bradford are regressions from Smith imo...probably Bridgewater as well. The bigger issue imo for a WAS fan is the extension...they went all in on this guy for what? What was the rush? That I didn't understand.

They had him for 2 more seasons on his KC contract I think...

Mahomes looks like the real deal but I'm sure he'll go through the normal year 1 starter struggles. Alex Smith is good but the ceiling on Mahomes is ultra high, IMO.

If you don't want to pay Cousins, that's fine, but then don't pay Smith and give up assets to do it.
How many times did Cousins lead the Redskins into the playoffs?

In a vacuum yes theyre worse.

But they wouldnt cost Fuller and a 3rd. And we wouldnt have to commit long term to them and would instead start looking for a rookie replacement. When you factor in all that Id prefer any of them.

Chiefs fans?!? Those are some of the most irrational fans around if we just went by twitter/online fanbases. I am not sure there's a bigger gulf with fans as opposed to online fans in the NFL; or so it feels like. Don't know why, but that's the way it is. There are a lot of people who are pretttttty delusional about Mahomes (I made a parody thread about it and certain posters on this site) so they'll probably defend it like it was their child even if he's actually pretty bad; something I don't think will happen. 2-3 years I'd say is a logical guess for both Reid and Mahomes.

See this is why you are good people. You don't become a huge homer and say irrational sh&t. But let's say he falls flat in his first two games with people be calling for his head?

IF Smith is actually becoming a better nfl QB as he gets older, then this may not turn out to be awful for the skins. If he can consistently get them to the playoffs, it will be better than what they have had in recent past.

personally, i'm skeptical that Smith is actually any better though. i think most of it had to do with Reid's system (which makes a lot of QB's put up better stats) and better talent around Smith on offense

but i suppose time will tell .....

I think the Chiefs should sign Colin Kaepernick as a backup. That'll stop any QB controversy from the fans.
