Translation: Show me the money. It's impossible to tell how much of this is posturing, but it's easy to see that Smith's best avenue to get the 49ers to increase their standing offer is to have the Dolphins as a serious landing spot. If common sense prevails on all sides, Smith will re-sign in San Francisco.

He'll cave on this one and everyone knows it. On the off-chance he's not bluffing he can walk. We will not strap ourselves with his contract. 3 yr $24 mil is very reasonable to not be stuck floundering away in Miami.

I think it's all posturing. Smith has one sensible option - and it pays $8m/Yr
