I can't remember do Canucks fans hate Messier? It seemed like a lot of people were upset that he wanted number 11, when signed there.
Nope, they love him. He's most of the Canuck fans on this board's favorite player, after Lougongo.

It's super cute in retrospect that some people thought Crosby was better.

I shouldn't say that, I mean, assists are just as important as go... they are just....they're...hahahhahhahahah.... i can't, i just can't.

Impressive night from Ovechkin last night.

Didn't even play and somehow still scored two goals. What a heater.

It's been a lot of fun to keep redoing the math on this over the past couple years. Assuming he signs another contract and stays here through his 39 season, it's entirely possible for him to have 860+ goals by the end of that season, with a decent shot at 875+.

Even heading into this season, him breaking the record seemed like a long shot. But at this point, as long as he decides to stay long enough, it has become realistic.

I wish I could tell you that Alex got his 700 goals. I wish I could tell you he fought the good fight, and the Gritty let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but the NHL is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew.

A lot of the analysts who dislike Ovechkin still try to point out that Ovechkin scoring 30 goals a season is what's required to hit 895+. I'm not sure who set the arbitrary retirement age at 40, but that's the unrealistic part. Ovechkin's never really been injured, and he could easily play into his 40s. Jaromir Jagr did, played most games, and score 134 goals from age 40-45.

The only variable is that Ovechkin might not be a Capital that entire stretch. :(
