The Tigers are NOT going to beat Lester a 2nd time this series.

Lester with a revenge motive going for him is something Detroit should want no part of. Whoever is pitching for them.

I actually like Lester -- anyone who beats cancer and comes back to play at the level he does is a great story.

That being said -- Lester has proven he is a much better pitcher at home, than on the road:
7-1 3.01 at Fenway
8-7 4.21 on the road

Couple that with the fact, his ERA goes up to 4.56 over his career pitching at Comerica against the Tigers. I like Detroit's chances to put some runs up.

Should be another entertaining game, none the less. I think Leyland might have found something with the lineup move he made. Taking the pressure off AJax and putting it on Hunter to lead off sparked something last night. Hopefully it carries over to today.

If it goes back to Boston with Detroit up 3-2 with Scherzer and Verlander pitching in games 6 and 7. If Boston wins the last two games with those two guys on the mound, all Detroit could do is tip their hats.

Detroit is smelling blood.

Let's hope it isn't the same blood they smelled in game 2 with 5-0 lead. UGH.

Small sample sizes 3 games

I prefer his 2.41 era in the post season 13 games:suds:

What's his post-season ERA on the road, on Thursdays, in the rain? This is a great series, numbers be damned.

Well it stopped raining down here (about a 1/2 mile from Comerica) so it looks as if it will start on time. It's going to be cold(50 maybe) & damp ... not great baseball weather. I don't know who gets the advantage there.

Well if umps still have that big strike zone neither team will be hitting much:suds:

I know you like your red sox brahm but comments like a win is a guarantee make you lose any credibility. After four games the tigers have completely dominate this series. Anyhow will this game even be played tonight due to weather?

Lester imo looked very hittable his first time around and fortunately ran into some cold tigers bats. Thats been the story for the tigers this past month.

Going into this series the red sox offense scared me, their starting rotation not so much. Jon lester and anyone else the red sox start is good for the ailing tigers bats. Pitchers i would not want the tigers to have to face? Greinke, kershaw, wacha, wainwright, and opposing teams should fear JV, max and sanchez.

The last home game for Detroit this year.

Will Sanchez continue the Tiger starter's dominance? Will Lester repeat his game one brilliance?

I'll be the most surprised person on the planet if Sanchez comes close to repeating his opening game performance. He threw a career game in the opener.

Tigers continually shoot themselves in the foot and lose another 1 run game.

1. Brookens waving Cabrera home and at the last minute putting up the stop sign, which Cabrera said he didn't see and is thrown out by 15 feet at home.

2. Cabrera's error at 3rd base which led to an unearned run.

3. Pena hitting into a double play. AJax hitting into a double play. Cabrera hitting into a double play with 1st and 3rd and no out.

4. Detroit just not being able to get the key hits needed has been a problem for this team over the last month and a half.

Been a great series, but Detroit has thrown away so many chances to take a commanding lead and now they find themselves in a 3-2 hole going on the road having to win two games at Fenway. They do have their best two pitchers going for them, but if the offense continues to squander opportunities like they have -- I'm not sure it is going to matter.

Agreed. Very fun series to watch...

It seems there have been mistakes and squandered chances on both sides (in every game).... I said recently I feel a bit lucky to be up in the series. I don't want to say it has been sloppy a series, but really, every single game could have had a different outcome. With the right breaks or smarter playing, either team could have swept the series.

So, now we head back to Boston. I think game six will be the best yet. And, I'm taking the under, yet again....

Oh man, no totally AWESOME 4:00 pm eastern starts!?! Nice to know when a WS game 7, two weeks from now, would start, without knowing when an ALCS game 6 starts... TOMORROW! (There's my crass sarcasm for the night. Congrats to Joe Kelly and Andy's kid on a weird staring contest.)
