Just a question...why make this game with a nr 10 team against an unranked Texas?..next is nr 14 Arizona st against unranked Texas tech?

Defense is about keeping the other team from scorinng
Defense is not about trying to keep the yardage averages below some threshold.

Oregon scored 13 offensive points in the first half
Oregon scored 3 offensive points in the second half

That is the fewest 2nd half offensive points scored in 5 years at Oregon.

That is good defense.

Come on, man...you know Oregon let off the gas pedal when they saw that Texas wasn't going to score again...

Congrats to Oregon. Was hoping Texas could pull a miracle out for Mack. I picked Ore by 31, so UT did a bit better than I expected.

Will miss Mack. Not just b/c Stoops success against him, but he is a good guy.

EVERY Bowl Game in Texas wanted Texas in it.

In Texas, if you put a Texas Team in your bowl game, you probably sell out. it gets even better when it is UT Austin.

as for the Alamo Bowl, it was a sell-out. About 55,000 Texas fans and 10,000 Oregon fans, give or take a few thousands. Both these teams travel well, but the bowl game is in Texas, so Texas fans go.

OKLAHOMA screwed things up.
There is that "Champions Bowl" thing...and OU supposedly travels well.

OKLAHOMA probably did not deserve the BCS bid.
That made things mucked up in the reality of bowl spacing.

So, the entire Big 12 is playing insanely bad mismatches.

OU should be in the Cotton.
Oklahoma State should be playing Oregon in this game.
Texas should have been playing Michigan in the Wild Wings Bowl.
Kansas State should be playing ASU.
Texas Tech should be playing another bowl tie-in altogether.

:nono:

Bowl games want more than just tickets sold. They wan't you to sleep in their hotels and eat at their restaurants for a few days too.

The Alamo and Holiday bowl take Big12 teams generally in the order they finish. Alamo gets the Big12 #3 and Holiday gets Big12 #5. End of year conference rankings and BCS/playoff factors in. Baylor and Oklahoma are going to BCS games, so Oklahoma St. going to the Cotton, and Texas ends up at the Alamo bowl. End of year poll rankings only really matter for BCS qualification.

never had a problem with you, either, but it is something that strikes close to home as my daughter is afflicted with scleroderma. I apologize for my comments.
