I give Virginia Tech credit for playing Alabama @ Atlanta in both 2009 and 2013.Apparently the ACC couldn't talk Virginia Tech into dropping one of their two FCS opponents?

I'd like the Tide to play Boston College - which is the only ACC Team with an all-time winning record vs. the Tide! True Story! The Eagles lead 3-1 with the last two wins with some guy named Flutie @ QB!True, trying to think of who else would even work... No wonder why they stopped, the ACC outside of Clemson sucks
They could have played us, we took a ACC team's place one year against Ole Mrs for some reason

The thing is conferences have totally different ways of scheduling. 12 games (13 if you go play@ Hawaii) and we have USC with 6 home games and 6 road games. Some teams like Bama have 8 home games and 4 road. Right there you have no way of grading teams equally. USC plays (this season) 3 OOC teams just one of them at home. Bama plays 3 of thier 4 OOC games at home. I can't imagine paying good money for season tickets and three of the games are mercers and Mississippi State type teams .Just curious what the huge difference is between 9 conference games and teams playing only 1 P5 opponent vs 8 conference games and 2 P5 opponents. They would play the same amount of cupcakes. I also want to kill divisions so that you can play conference opponents much more regularly.

You have certain teams that won’t schedule 1 P5 opponent. But that has nothing to do with what I was talking about. As I said earlier, I would rather force teams to go 8 +2 rather than 9 and maybe +1.Not much of a difference from an SOS perspective. Unfortunately there aren't many schools that schedule 8+2 consistently (there are some).

Im just talking about the quality of the game you're getting. Some fan bases dont care how you get a W. You could play 8 Mercers and Citadels and they wouldnt care. They just want wins.
This is way too objective. They'll probably take your Bama/SEC homer card away from you!A few points:
I love the way USC schedules historically. Alabama has been part of that during my lifetime with the 4 game series in the 70s (I attended the 1978 game @ Legion Field), and I wish Alabama would do more of the same. Much respect there.
I also wish the SEC had 9 Conference Games instead of 8. fyi: Coach Saban is very open about supporting this too, but he is out numbered.
Alabama has not played 8 home games since the 2006 season (Shula's last season). In 2010 and 2011, Alabama played 7 at home and 5 on the road and the other Saban years have been 7 home-4 away-1 neutral.
Since Saban became HC in 2007, the Tide have played Florida State (ACC) @ Jax in 2007, Clemson (ACC) @ Atlanta in 2008, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta in 2009, @ Duke (ACC) in 2010, @ Penn State (B1G) in 2011, Michigan (B1G) @ Arlington in 2012, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta in 2013, West Virginia (Big Xii) @ Atlanta in 2014, Wisconsin (B1G) @ Arlington in 2015, Southern California (Pac-12) @ Arlington in 2016, Florida State (ACC) @ Atlanta in 2017 and Louisville (ACC) @ Orlando in 2018.
Alabama has 3 more neutrals: Duke @ Atlanta in 2018, Southern California @ Arlington in 2020 and Miami (Fla.) @ Atlanta in 2021. Then, thankfully, they get back in the home and home business OOC starting with @ Texas in 2022, @ South Florida in 2023, @ Wisconsin in 2024, @ West Virginia in 2026, @ Notre Dame in 2028 and @ Okahoma in 2032.
Mississippi State is an SEC Team! Nothing wrong with playing them. They are actually the closest SEC team to Alabama geographically - even closer than Auburn. They are not a drag on the schedule at all. It is usually a tough game, and every once in a while Bully bites 'Bama on the butt. They have definitely struggled during the Saban Era (like most teams) - even though they were Undefeated and ranked #1 heading into the 2015 game (when Dak Prescott was QB).
You are spot on about the OOC non P5 teams being a drag on the schedule, especially the FCS mismatches like Mercer. Those games are no fun to me and to many fans at all. fyi: I am a former season ticket holder and gave my tickets up due to tiring of dealing with the crummy OOC game tickets and after the Michigan State home and home (2016 and 2017) was cancelled. That annoyed me even though the series was replaced with the 2016 game vs. Southern California @ Arlington and the 2017 game vs. Florida State @ Atlanta.
Cheers
If you are talking OOC scheduling, here are the culprits that don't have a single P5 OOC opponent next year....(depending on what BYU is considered)
Baylor
Indiana
Ohio State
Illinois
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Washington
Washington St
Utah
Arkansas
Tennessee
That said...all of these culprits still play 9 P5 opponents except Arkansas and Tennessee. From what I could see, only two P5 teams only play 8 P5 opponents all year.
Feel free to check my research....I'm old ya know.

The last time Wisconsin played a real P5 opponent in its non conference schedule was 2016.If you are talking 2020, Wisconsin is playing Notre Dame OOC

What I looked at was this year. Like I said, I could have made a mistake. If you are talking 2020, Wisconsin is playing Notre Dame OOC

Didn't you just answer your own question...If I get season tickets to Alabama I get 8 home games and and 2 of them are shitty...if I get USC tickets, I get 6 home games...and 2 of them are good. Quite frankly, Chattanooga was a better game in 2016 than USC ever thought about being.
Lol at slamming Miss State too, there aren't 5 teams in your conference better than Mrs State. The games might look better though, because it's some shitty Pac team playing some other shitty Pac team, so they are at least competitive.
Alabama's home slate is pretty bad this year though. Outside of LSU there isn't a lot there.
