The Astros got stomped again today - gave up 9 runs in the 1st inning and got swept by the Royals.

Astros took 2 of 3 from the Rangers in Houston this weekend - I expect the Astros to get it turned around, they have far too much offensive talent to be a losing team

No one follows them so I just saw on MLB Tonight that Oakland has this rookie closer who throws 105 and has like a 1.40 ERA or some shit lol

The Angels might suck, but at least their farm system is very deep...

...oh, nevermind.

These FanGraphs lists usually have "Top 30+" for every team they do, so for them to only have 24 is something.

One thing that seems to get overshadowed in the Astros' struggles is just how good Kyle Tucker has been. He's hitting .288/.422/.638 for a 197 wRC+ (only Ohtani has a higher wRC+, by 5 points) and leads the league in fWAR. He's been one of the best outfielders in MLB for the last 3+ years, but he seems to be taking it to another level. His launch angle has changed, he's hitting the ball even harder and he hits more fly balls and has taken ground balls out of the equation. Also has seen his BB% rise from 9.7% two years ago to 18.7% in 2024.

Tucker has been outstanding this year. I think the Astros are starting to turn things around, wouldn’t surprise me if they wound up winning the division to be honest, no one in the AL West has a great record so far - the Mariners are the only team above 500 right now

and even the M's have had a pretty pedestrian lineup and the pitching is only 6th in ERA (and that's while playing their games in T-Mobile Park).

Astros are playing better. The rotation has still been a gas can, but at least the bullpen's been good

Astros sweep the Orioles while the Mariners lost their series to the lousy Marlins. Yeah I’m pretty certain the Astros are going to wind up overtaking the M’s and winning the division. The Mariners don’t even have anyone with very impressive hitting numbers so I’m surprised they are in 1st place and I think they will fall some.

pitching staff seems to be getting it's act together, though they still have a couple injuries. Bullpen has been pretty good and they still have good hitters
