Not to be outdone by the Astros bullpen choke job the other night, the Mariners did an awfully good job wasting a 7-inning shutout 16 K (!) performance from Paxton. That's now 60 K's in 38.2 innings.

Yea was at that game and one of the crazier games I've seen. It really showed the lack of bullpen depth each team has which could eventually be the downfall for both. Turns out the M's really needed that win to avoid a sweepThis Angels-Mariners game is crazy.
This AL West is shaping up to be be very fun.
3 teams in it and Angels look legit

Meh, I thinks it's a two team race. Don't think Seattle can hold up all season, especially if the Cano injury keeps him out long term.
He is out til July
I don't think Seattle was much more then a .500ish team even with Cano. So obviously this makes things that much more difficult. I however don't really believe in the Angels either necessarily. The rotation and bullpen are both very thin. That being said the AL has enough weak teams that either could easily play their way into the WC2. The Astros will win the division easily. Their offense hasn't really even gotten going yet.
My issue I guess is we haven't seen Skaggs, Heaney or Richards make it a full season healthy. My main reason for pessimism regarding them. Also it looks like Middleton may miss significant time and he was they guy they were using at the back end. However bullpen is something that can be easily tweaked thru trades. The lineup is definitely elite thoughI do worry about the Angels pitching depth (particularly the rotation), but right now that rotation looks pretty good. Skaggs and Heaney were pretty highly touted prospects and they both look like they might be breaking out. Jury's still out on Ohtani and he has had some command struggles, but he's showing a lot of upside as well. Remains to be seen if Richards is finally healed, but he was one of the best pitchers in the AL prior to the injuries. Remains to be see if it can hold up, but as long as they're healthy I don't think it's a stretch to say it can be a top 10 rotation. Combine that and their influx of positional talent and I think you have a team with a pretty good shot at reaching the WC game.
Any freshly minted Astros fans up for a 1-week avi bet on this weekend's Tribe/Astros series?
You want me to help you remove that stupid looking avi you've got?
