Not looking too good in New York right now. Rained all night and more scheduled for this afternoon, plus a tropical storm is heading up the coast. And most of these games mean jack SQUAT.

Just go ahead and end the season and give us the trophy

Well that sucks. I was looking forward to seeing Tanka try and slow down the red-hot Red Sox.

Hard to believe that the Astros aren't a playoff team at the moment...

At least the Indians have been competitive

Compared to what?

In the 14 seasons since the great 90's teams, the Tribe are 1106-1155, have only had 5 winning seasons, and only two playoff berths (one being a wildcard one-and-done).

That's why I'm not too broken up about Mark Shapiro splitting town. He seems overrated. Anybody know where he's going?

At least the Indians have been competitive if not victorious. The Cavs have been to 2 finals in the past decade, too.

It's been 51 years since a Cleveland team from the big three sports won a championship. That's 153 seasons give or take without a championship. I would be willing to bet that of cites with all three sports, Cleveland's championship drought is more than twice as long as any other city's.

Red Sox are Red Hot?

Must be meaningless "fake hype for next season" time in Boston

Its a great mystery to me why Terry Francona seems to be deemed untouchable.............The Indians have grossly underachieved on his watch...His only success came in Boston in a season with a huge payroll, and was the leader in his last season of one of the greatest embrassments in Boston sports history....I think his seat should be hotter than it appears

Huh. Thought they had been better than that.

I haven't heard that he's untouchable. Maybe he is. I don't know.

The Indians have grossly underachieved on his watch...

I don't agree with that. He led the 2013 Tribe to a 24-win improvement over 2012 and a playoff berth. I think the Indians have been overrated, particularly heading into this season. I'm not saying they've exceeded expectations, but to say they've "grossly underachieved" the last three years is awfully melodramatic if not straight retarded.

His only success came in Boston in a season with a huge payroll

Eight seasons in Boston. 744-552 record. Only two with fewer than 90 wins and no losing seasons. Two world championships. From my perspective, there was a lot more success there than you're implying.

and was the leader in his last season of one of the greatest embrassments in Boston sports history....I think his seat should be hotter than it appears

Learning that a 90-72 season is "one of the greatest embarrassments in Boston sports history" makes me feel really badly about being an Indians fan.

I know they came into this season as a darling pick of many, and their season was virtually over by June 1st, in terms of real contention....Not sure how overrated they were, they came into 2015 with the CY Young winner, and a guy in Carrasco that was as good as anyone in the AL the last few months of 2014.......With hopes for Salazar and Bauer, I could see where the hype was coming from

Maybe its the Yankee fan in me knowing that managers with big payrolls get zero credit for any success that team is having

Youre looking at the end result, ignoring the clubhouse becoming a disaster, and leading a huge collapse while leading the division most of the season by a pretty big margin

Yeah. Tito wasn't a great manager by any stretch of the imagination, but I certainly wouldn't attribute 2011 to him. He may have lost the clubhouse, but that collapse had more to do with the pitching staff completely shitting the bed late in the season. Lester/Beckett were having great seasons and pitched pretty badly in September. Lackey had one of the worst seasons by a pitcher in recent memory. Buchholz went down early and the Sox were trotting out the corpses of Wakefield/Bedard/Dice-K and a failed SP in Andrew Miller (before turning into a damn good reliever).

It seems that way, but sadly, those are the facts.

Oh, stop being so modest! The Indians have had more playoff appearances in the last 40 years than the Mets!
