Devers would be the best player on the Yankees right now. Can’t think of a player from that roster that I’d take over him. A healthy Judge is the only real candidate and I would pass.

Bogaerts is probably better than everyone on that roster, as well.

Yankees fans: "we need contact hitters"
Also Yankees fans: "lets trade for a Rockie that hits .250 away from Coors"

And, yes, the Rockies trade Story for Torres every day of the week.

the problem isn't so much trading Torres for Story IMO, it's trading for someone that's an upcoming free agent will take money to sign him. I think they'd be better off seeing if Story hits free agency and then try to sign him while keeping Torres. Or sign Seager.

even if the Yankees do get Away Story, I still think he's a very solid player. But I do worry about how his contact skills will play away from Coors. His BABIP is 18 points higher at Coors (.355) than on the road (.337) and his K% at Coors is much lower (25.6%) than on the road (31.3%). but it is hard to predict players moving from Coors, Holliday was still a stud after leaving St. Louis (though his BA did drop a bit) and Lemahieu has flourished in NY. Tulo flamed out but I'd say that had more to do with injuries. We'll see

Torres isn't without his flaws either, but we're still talking about a middle infielder with 65 home runs and a 119 wRC+ in his first 1283 PA. That's an exciting player if you ask me. I just find it baffling to see Yankees fans ready to fire him into the sun. We're a week into the season, settle down.

Definitely, but @DirtDirtDirt is trying to upgrade SS for THIS season. The Yankees’ window with this crew is closing rapidly and they need to keep their foot on the gas.

Torres doesn't need to be traded. He need to play 2B but as Kay said on his radio show, there's ways to do it but they all bring different issues to the table.

If the Yankees get the 2018 or 2019 Gleyber version of him then I think they can live with him being mediocre at SS but how shitty he was last season with the bat will make it tough to keep running him out there at SS

I agree, but I'm not sure how much stock you can really put into 2020... it's a 42 game sample. He had a bad August and then looked more like 2018-19 Torres in September/Oct.

Is there one good reason why the entire sox/twins series is being played in the afternoon?

In 2019 they were 84-78. Hardly awesome, but far from being “doormats”. They had a World Series hangover that year that they couldn’t shake. Us Boston fans have seen it many times.

Lmao

No one would have batted an eye if DJ Lemehiue won the last 2 American League MVPs

gimme that guy

They haven’t finished below .500 in 30 years

they have played October baseball in like 25 of the last 27 seasons

the window never closes

there’s no “content being doormats” accepted here

Said it all winter on this board

trading Voight at peak value and moving DJ to first and Gleyber back to 2nd

was a no brainer
