Thats a very short sighted way of looking at it

Cease would without a doubt be their #1 come playoffs.

For starters he has the track record. Hes also got a FIP of 3.63 so hes been unforunate. He misses bats which is huge for october

Bradish has been on a hell of a run no denying that. But his FIP is 3.5 so right around Cease and hes a guy who who had a 4.9 ERA/4.4 FIP just last year. He pitched 117 innings last year. Is still under 100 this year. No sustrained track record of any dominance or even any full season stamina.

Wells has a great WHIP but hes Cease age with no proven track record already at a career high in innings of 111. Hes been trending in the wrong direction lately getting beat up and his FIP is a ghatstly 4.89 mostly do to the long balls he serves up. His FIP shows that the current struggles could be more of a trend than a blip.

Now none of that is to say by any means that either of Wells or Bradish suck or that they cant win in October with those two. But the Os could definitely use a starter and Cease would instantly become their best weapon. ANd with two years of control and the Os prospect depth I think well worth it.

Yeah, I'd take Cease in a heartbeat. Not without his flaws of course, he does come with a fairly high walk rate. Doesn't give up many home runs despite not being a ground ball pitcher and pitching in one of the more HR friendly ballparks

Would like to see more of a track record from Bradish, but I think he's a pretty intriguing arm. Posted great strikeout rates in the minors. FanGraphs even had him as a 45+ FV prospect. The peripherals look pretty good. Rough start for him tonight though

great win tonight. Big road trip with SF/SEA and they come home to host the Jays... I'd be very happy if we can go 6-3. After that there's a ten game span with KC/DET/WAS

They are on a roll, for sure, but 6-3 will be tough... (They were on a roll when the A's took 2 of 3 last week in Cali)

I'd be happy with 3-3 out west - then bring on Toronto and the last wild card spot... (Boston is 7-0 vs the Jays this year. Yikes.)

Casas starting to break out. 3 straight games with a HR. Really good numbers since June 1st and a .767 OPS & 108 wRc+ overall despite a BRUTAL first month. Still only 23 years old.

Cheap production from Casas and Duran is a huge bonus. Yoshida looking like he’s worth every penny, too.
Casas has been killing the ball all month.

He now has the 10th-best wRC+ amongst all 1B at 126.

8th-best OPS at .836.

Tied for the 7th-best OBP at .360.

Ohtani throws a one-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader. Then he hits 2 home runs(so far) in the 2nd game. I cannot imagine what he will sign for this Winter.

I still think an equity stake in a franchise will be part of his next contract. He might not get a $50MM AAV, but part ownership in a franchise could be very attractive to him.

Beating Atlanta twice is impressive, and it should come as a surprise to nobody that the Sox and Yankees are not really fourth and fifth place teams. The AL East is just THAT good.

I full expect both teams to get on a roll, as the Sox prospects improve, Judge comes back, and whatever both teams do at the deadline.

Should make for a fantastic finish, one rhat I hope leads to an Orioles playoff appearance.

Stanton, Rodon, and Rizzo - the yankees 2-4th most expensive players that are not currently on the injured list - make more money than the entire salary of the Orioles or the Rays.

Donaldson is making $21million. That’s laughable.

I’d want the Yankees to sign him for that ridiculous price too. Part of the reason they’re in the predicament they’re in - besides having a subpar manager - is that they’ve signed too many people to bad contracts. Adding $50m/year to an already bloated team salary isnt going to get the yanks any closer to a WS.

Crazy/loaded division this year. The Yankees are getting Judge back, but the Sox are getting Story, Sale, Houck & Whitlock back. Story is due back next week. Sale is going on a rehab assignment. It’s going to be a wild last 2 months.

Would you want your team to sign Ohtani for $800m?

If he signs for $50m/year AAV, then that’s a 16 year contract?! Too long.
I’m not even sure $50m/year is enough anymore. Judge just got $40m/year and he’s several years older…and he isn’t a Cy Young contender. We’ve never seen anything like this before.

If Ohtani is only a 50 m AAV that’s likely the best contract in baseball. I do that in a heartbeat. 10 years 500 million dollars. You’re getting a top 1-2 starter in your rotation at $25 m a year and you’re also getting a DH who is one of the top power hitters in the game for $25 m a year. You just can’t beat that.
