My biggest issue with the Phil’s last night was a lineup with outs 6-7-8-9 on a day when the O’s come in with reduced bull pen arms available riding an emotional high after the Rays head to head series. Also…I want that 2B bat checked haha. Has no power and then dude goes opposite field curling it fair around the pole haha.Yes-- the O's are without a doubt the best team in baseball-- they can take the Braves in a sweep for the WS. Its looking like a Baltimore Championship season for Birdland including the Ravens! They too will tromp the league. I think the O's let the Phils stay in the game for a bit then said enough -- two more wins then out of Philly and we will crush and put an end to the Skankees season!
Unstoppable is the word to use for this Orioles team-- 100 plus wins are on the way and a World Series Championship! I have not seen a team play so well together in a very long time. The 2023 O's can't and will NOT be beat. Pulling away from the others now in the AL east... see ya all in the rear view mirror!

I was just commenting because I heard it was his first career Hr. Had no idea he had so little major league time.Yeah, Westburg had a .223 ISO in the minors and slugged .501. Not sure where the "no power" comes from. FanGraphs grades his raw power at 55.
Congrats on the win last night. Felt like the Phillies gave one away but I don’t want to take anything away from the O’s. What a great story. If the Phil’s aren’t directly involved, I’m pulling for the Orioles this year. Would be a great story. 4 years ago 47-115 and now look at them!
Which is why I’m hoping if they do trade for any sort of pitching that it’s more than a rental. Another reason I wouldn’t want them to even think about Ohtani since he’d be gone at the end of the season and the price would be huge.Whoa whoa whoa! Pump the breaks!!
The first thing to get to is to clinch a playoff spot. The entire AL East is above .500, and improving. No guarantees.
Things are looking good, but a plan to be “cautious buyers” and not gut the enviable farm system for a rental is a good one.
Go O’s!
It’s one of many. Like I said to you the other day…I have no idea how the Phillies are hanging around. Only piece of the team that I can say has been very good is the pen. They’ve wrapped a meh April/May/July around a ridiculously hot June. Almost every single big money guy has underperformed. And Castellanos is like hold my beer. He was .302 heading into All Star break and now he’s low .280s.Phillies cannot continue to trot Scwharber out in LF.
Harper has to stop occupying DH without the slugging. Thats a big issue imo.

It’s funny you say that. Marsh hasn’t looked as good as he did last season in CF. I told a friend part of it is him having to be placed in a position where he can potentially help both corner OFs. We are on the same page. Schwarber gave it his all on that fly ball at the line last night but if he pinch ran for Schwarber in the 8th with Marsh, that’s a play that he gets to.Yeah, they still have a talented roster. Like Turner has to get hot at some point right? Even if Harper cant find his power hes hitting.
But hes gotta play 1B all the time now. Having a OF D of Scwarber and Castellanos is hilarious. You could have prime Buxton patrolling CF and your OF D would still suck.
I think Phils will add a right handed bat at deadline too.
Corbin Burnes. Dude was mad pissed coming out of arbitration this year. Relationship hasn’t improved. You have him this year and his controllable next season as well. Or he’s worth a 4-5 year investment I think 4 years 120 gets it done and you get (in theory) his best 4 years. Full disclosure: this is the guy I’ve wanted the Phillies to target this year and move on from Nola.Which is why I’m hoping if they do trade for any sort of pitching that it’s more than a rental. Another reason I wouldn’t want them to even think about Ohtani since he’d be gone at the end of the season and the price would be huge.

They say they’re going to be a cautious buyer at the deadline, or something to that effect.
I agree with not gutting the farm system for rentals like Othani, but OTOH, I’m not sure how much better a season they will have than this one, considering their current record.
I wouldnt trade much for Othani to begin with unless he signed an extension, which he wouldnt, unless “winning” is his number one priority. In that case, there arent many more enticing situations….
